The version for sale on iTunes has the 'Clean Lyrics' tags all over it. Is it heavily edited?

Instead of saying "B Machines," there's an excruciatingly loud beep and then the word "Machines."
― ksh, Tuesday, 11 May 2010 14:02 (sixteen years ago)
just streamed this and not really my thing. guess I prefer the first sunshine rubdown album for my lo-fi indie pop. oh well

didn't I correctly predict the p4rk score for Carter II down to the decimal place yes i did
― surfboard dudes get wiped out, totally, Tuesday, 11 May 2010 14:39 (sixteen years ago)
*Carter III
Listening to this reminds me of the first few spins of Girl Talk's Night Ripper -- what makes it awesome is what makes it disposable and vice versa.
― skip, Tuesday, 11 May 2010 14:46 (sixteen years ago)
way into the roller-derby fuzz-pop sound of this so far

can't wait for this to show up on "what was the biggest bullshit you fell for in the 2010s" thread in 2020
― surfboard dudes get wiped out, totally, Tuesday, 11 May 2010 15:52 (sixteen years ago)
I don't think I get this.
"Crown on the Ground" makes me think of "Bulls on Parade."
― congratulations (n/a), Tuesday, 11 May 2010 15:54 (sixteen years ago)
why is it big bullshit?

Is "Kids" the new version of "Crown on the Ground"?
― thistle supporter (mcoll), Tuesday, 11 May 2010 17:11 (sixteen years ago)
Oh no wait Crown comes later
― thistle supporter (mcoll), Tuesday, 11 May 2010 17:12 (sixteen years ago)
Kids is the new version of Beach Girls, but takes away all the nice seagull noises :( and tones it down somewhat? Not sure what they did to it, but it's the only demo that isn't IMPROVED by the album.
― Alex in Montreal, Tuesday, 11 May 2010 17:15 (sixteen years ago)
the bursting/scintillating drums tire a bit by the end of the album. the last track could definitely do without them, at least.

― thistle supporter (mcoll), Tuesday, 11 May 2010 17:19 (sixteen years ago)
this record rules, but all i want to listen to right now is Paramore. don't sleep on their last record, everyone! it rules
― ksh, Tuesday, 11 May 2010 17:25 (sixteen years ago)
did they remaster crown at all? haven't listened to the demo in awhile but it still feels pretty demo-y
― thistle supporter (mcoll), Tuesday, 11 May 2010 17:30 (sixteen years ago)
Why would anyone put their crown in the ground? If I had one I'd be sporting it and whacking people on the forehead with my sceptre.
― ksh, Tuesday, 11 May 2010 17:32 (sixteen years ago)
I realise that's kind of the point. It just sounds unprofessional as opposed to 'professionally distorted'
― thistle supporter (mcoll), Tuesday, 11 May 2010 17:32 (sixteen years ago)
Um, yeah, so this is fucking hot imo.

On "Infinity Guitars" Alexis Krauss sounds like Andrea Zollo from Pretty Girls Make Graves.
― Mordy, Tuesday, 11 May 2010 19:05 (sixteen years ago)
Okay maybe I was too quick to dismiss this, it isn't bad.
― he's always been a bit of an anti-climb Max (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Tuesday, 11 May 2010 19:05 (sixteen years ago)
So how many reviews are going to mention that this is a relatively short record (little over 30 minutes)
― Mordy, Tuesday, 11 May 2010 19:06 (sixteen years ago)
Wrt the Paste review, "You either buy the Brookyln duo’s central conceit or you don’t: bombastic synth-rock for bombast’s sake, with mixing cranked so high your speakers sound like they’re about to combust," I heard this description a lot when listening to the demos ('speakers sound like they're about to combust') but doesn't actually sound right on this album. The distortion is actually much cleaner and easier to pick out -- it's no longer just amorphous static.
― Mordy, Tuesday, 11 May 2010 19:08 (sixteen years ago)
Yeah, I think that is exactly why I like this album more than the demos I listened to, the distortion isn't really so muddy and overwhelming. I feel like its used to much greater effect on these tracks.
― he's always been a bit of an anti-climb Max (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Tuesday, 11 May 2010 19:10 (sixteen years ago)
