it's tricky (disco stu), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 15:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Whoa -- it counts tracks you listen to on ILX Radio on your top artists/songs list. I didn't know that.

Sanjay McDougal (jaymc), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 15:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I know. How embarrassing!

Also - I am not albacoretuner, in case their was any confusion. But whoever they are, they turned me onto Colleen, so they're OK by me.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 16:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Why haven't my stats updated at all during the last 24 hours?

adam... (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 16:11 (twenty-one years ago)

what does your log txt file say?

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 16:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Adam, I had this problem all day Monday and Tuesday. It's a bug that they're working on.

Sanjay McDougal (jaymc), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 16:16 (twenty-one years ago)

"Heartbeat" has taken a commanding lead at #1, btw.

Sanjay McDougal (jaymc), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 16:17 (twenty-one years ago)

i was hoping for the star trek song "destruct mode, picard is back," which came on my itunes today (i was listening on shuffle; i have a lot of weird shit in my library thanks to the day job).

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 16:18 (twenty-one years ago)

The only thing I don't like is those stupid "funny" blurbs at the top of the screen. Things like "If you like a lot of Audioscrobbler on your biscuit join our club". Lame!

adam... (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 16:20 (twenty-one years ago)

aha. last.fm doesnt put stuff in your played list that you clicked "hate" on. nice.

:| (....), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

"Fall Into The Audioscrobbler."

Sanjay McDougal (jaymc), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

"The Audioscrobbler That Likes To Say Yes."

Sanjay McDougal (jaymc), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 16:28 (twenty-one years ago)

"Don't Be Vague. Ask for Audioscrobbler."

Sanjay McDougal (jaymc), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 16:28 (twenty-one years ago)

"Audioscrobbler - Have you tried it wet yet?"

Sanjay McDougal (jaymc), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 16:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, none of those are funny.

Sanjay McDougal (jaymc), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 16:28 (twenty-one years ago)

So...random and lazy.

adam... (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 16:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Audioscrobbler - kill all your friends!

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 16:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Hahaha!

Note to S1OCKI and TOKYO ROSEMARY -

Start listening to music so that I can spy on you!

adam... (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 16:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks - I hadn't even noticed those rubby slogans till you pointed it out.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 16:55 (twenty-one years ago)

it won't list Top Artists and Top Tracks for me - what's up wi at?

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 17:03 (twenty-one years ago)

For the ILX group or for you personally, do you mean?

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 17:05 (twenty-one years ago)

for me personally

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 17:05 (twenty-one years ago)

You must listen to more! Man you are listening to some crazy shit. Adeva, wtf? xpost.

ledge (ledge), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 17:05 (twenty-one years ago)

random play dude

i noticed for other members it would list a track even if they'd listened to it only once tho

maybe it will kick in after rebooting?

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 17:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Steve -- it's a bug. It'll clear up in a day or two. I promise! It happened to me, too, and I lived to tell about it.

Sanjay McDougal (jaymc), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 17:09 (twenty-one years ago)

awesome

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 17:14 (twenty-one years ago)

is it, though?

adam... (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 17:17 (twenty-one years ago)

My stats are very sluggish. They seem to take ages to shift.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 17:18 (twenty-one years ago)

woo! works now

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 17:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Is it what? A bug? Yes. OR IS IT MALICIOUS?

Sanjay McDougal (jaymc), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 17:24 (twenty-one years ago)

the colleen album is gorgeous, alba.

cºzen (Cozen), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 17:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey, there's a message board for the audioscrobbler group!
http://www.audioscrobbler.com/group/ilXor/forum
What do you suppose we talk about there?

Mike Dixn (Mike Dixon), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 17:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Oops - didn't click on the bug explanation before posting.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 17:34 (twenty-one years ago)

i just noticed a lot of stuff i listen to doesn't get submitted... is the artist info incorrectly put into the id tag? or is the stuff too obscure? (i've got pretty small time, no name stuff on my playlist.)

m.

msp (msp), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 19:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Doesn't have to match anything at all in their database. I've had things come up on mine that just say 'audiofeed005' or whatever. Is is not even making it to your 10 recently played tracks bit?

If you're just talking about the overall stats, then yeah, then it's probably just the current bug that they say they're working on.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 19:19 (twenty-one years ago)

This combines the internet, music, useless statistics, and voyeurism - my four favourite things!

-- adam... (adamr...), November 23rd, 2004 6:15 PM. (later)

Adam has unlocked the secret of a happy life. That comment essentially convinced me to join.

Hahahaha! From the noise board:

"mort garson is the 4th most played artist in the ilx lastfm group
http://www.audioscrobbler.com/group/ilXor

-- ...REF="mailto:@*.* (*@*.*), Novembe">@*.* (*@*.*), November 23rd, 2004.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

whatsa audioscrobbler?
-- scott seward (skotro...), November 23rd, 2004.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

its this thing you download, and then when you play music on your computer, it adds it to the thing, then makes a page of what you have been playing. if you get in a group with a bunch of people, it makes a radio station, in this case it would be at http://www.lastfm.com/group/ilXor and plays popular things in the joint list, like mort garson, for example

-- ... (*@*.*), November 23rd, 2004.

adam... (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 19:33 (twenty-one years ago)

It will not be playing any Mort Gorson.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 19:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Mort Garson is going down.

Sanjay McDougal (jaymc), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 19:41 (twenty-one years ago)

mort garson wont be played since last.fm has no titles by him. and lull wont be played eihter whether i give "moments" twenty spins or not. crosspost.

:| (....), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 19:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Have you heard that Mort Garson track with Dizzee on it? There's a Superpitcher remix of that which just KILLS.

adam... (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 19:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Interpol are covering it on their next record.

adam... (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 19:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I heard Randy Newman was doing a parody of it at next year's Oscars.

Sanjay McDougal (jaymc), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 19:53 (twenty-one years ago)

The forum is off to a CRACKING start!!!

Snnap Dragon (snnap dragon), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 21:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Also Audioscrobbler publishes RSS feeds so you can read people's "last played" lists via an RSS reader (or a "live bookmark" in Firefox). I think the RDF/RSS 1.0 stuff is broken, which is a pity, but you can get RSS 2.0 feeds at URIs like

http://ws.audioscrobbler.com/rss/recent.php?user=yourUserId
