the pressing was ok. unfortunately, by the time it arrived at my doorstep, the cover/gatefold had tears and rips in two different places, and a skin on the first track. i love m b v but i will be waiting until i can buy a copy at my local store

Hmm. The fact that Imperioli is in on the inside info certainly brings a new twist, which makes me feel like it's not just a repressing/reissue of m b v. Intriguing, to be sure.

He has also been co-producing and mixing for Domino Records signings SORRY, producing and mixing singles for LADYBIRD, PUREST and JOAN as well as the latest EP by Brighton band FUR. He has also been recording the new album for MY BLOODY VALENTINE and worked with KEVIN SHIELDS on remastering ‘loveless’ and ‘isn’t anything’ for Vinyl. He mixed for another Domino records signing PETER PERRET, Brighton band DREAM WIFE as well as the debut album for Memphis Industries MUSH. Plus he added production and mixed LIZ LAWRENCE’S pity party album.

there is someone on the mbv reddit who a few days ago correctly predicted that there'd be something today and is now saying they've heard new material is coming august/september in addition to whatever re-releases are coming on wednesday. don't want to get my hopes up too much though lol

I remember back in the day that Kev made noises about the CDs being the most accurate rendition of Loveless, refused to send promos on cassette I think. I believe the unique thing about the 2018 vinyl was that they reassembled the track segues from the original analogue elements because it’d all been done in the digital domain originally.

Nice to see that Kevin, on top of a load of cables on his vast and beautiful mixing console, has the same cheapo Tandy SPL meter that I've had for the last 25 years :)

The 2018 vinyl reissues of both albums are stupendous, they sound completely amazing and the sleeves are really nice too. It's a shame they are out of print and go for so much money second hand. It would be nice if they gave mbv the same treatment since that sleeve is shit.

Relistening to mbv now for the first time in a while...I think I like it a lot more now than I did when it came out. In 2013 it felt kind of disappointing, but almost anything they released would have seemed that way in comparison to Loveless. I wanted it to be another collection of melted power-pop tunes like Loveless, and instead it's a collection of experiments in repetition and mood. I appreciate what it's doing a lot more, these days.

I was at that Shrine gig too (along with the second Santa Monic Civic gig). The whole story is in the "Return Of MBV" thread. If I had to single out any one show it would be the Coachella warm-up show at the El Rey.
