she really likes pictures of herself, doesn't she?

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:30 (twenty-one years ago)

(In retrospect it wasn't as mean as I thought it was, but it also wasn't funny; it was just some tired "Well Ned, where do you expect Blount to look for girlfriends?" bullshit. 3/10)

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:30 (twenty-one years ago)

trolling hotelhallways for strokes spunk spitoons would barely rank in skeeviness on my 'the things we do for love' scale

Those are your favorite spittoons, then.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Last night: As I already said, last night was the Libertines show, and as I already said, it was unbelievable. I feel like I'm watching something almost historic in music culture when I see them perform

g--ff (gcannon), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Any further claims of hotness have just been torpedoed.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:37 (twenty-one years ago)

ah ned i see you're unfamiliar with the 'you like tori amos? i LOVE tori amos! she's a genius!' gambit

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:38 (twenty-one years ago)

That picture > all the "bus" picks from that rancorous noise thread

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:39 (twenty-one years ago)

it's like it was taken at a mork convention.

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:40 (twenty-one years ago)

*shivers*

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:41 (twenty-one years ago)

ah ned i see you're unfamiliar with the 'you like tori amos? i LOVE tori amos! she's a genius!' gambit

What gambit? I have nearly all of her albums. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

"nearly"?? no punani for you!

g--ff (gcannon), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Uh, thanks?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:46 (twenty-one years ago)

"if only I could hide it as well as you do."

classic strokes song of the future!

Magic City (ano ano), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:52 (twenty-one years ago)

he sort of deserves that kinda girlfriend for taking all the credit on the songs. 'all songs by j casablancas' oh *really*?!!

still love the strokes mind.

and i'm not believing those j c quotes either.

piscesboy, Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:54 (twenty-one years ago)

o man julia lennon theory to thread

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:57 (twenty-one years ago)

bwahahaha. i've probably had to remove this girl from the backstage area at some point.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 15:45 (twenty-one years ago)

classics.

cºzen (Cozen), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 16:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow, this chick's CD collection is almost a perfect subset of mine, except for the huge run of John Mayer stuff, and the Strokes completism. That is DEEPLY disturbing, embarrassing, etc. However, the opportunities for Tori Amos-style gambits are virtually unlimited should I run into her.

southern lights (southern lights), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 16:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Not enough metal.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 16:31 (twenty-one years ago)

this thread revive has made me laugh so hard my coworker is worried about me.

amateur!!st, Wednesday, 25 August 2004 16:40 (twenty-one years ago)

p.s. yanc3y how did you find that?

amateur!!st, Wednesday, 25 August 2004 16:46 (twenty-one years ago)

he's the jimmy nichol of the strokes

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 16:53 (twenty-one years ago)

just imagine if blogs had existed during the heyday of the rolling stones et al...

amateur!!st, Wednesday, 25 August 2004 16:56 (twenty-one years ago)

she is my favorite girl ever

kyle (akmonday), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 16:59 (twenty-one years ago)

it's me, amateurist!

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 17:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Wait, YOU'RE the blog author?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 17:03 (twenty-one years ago)

o man can you hook me up with that chick? (and dude do you really own all those travis cd's? wtf?)

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 17:04 (twenty-one years ago)

It's sort of sweet to think of big rock stars getting with girls who own that many soundtracks and Police albums.

nabisco (nabisco), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 17:06 (twenty-one years ago)

can someone cut and paste more of the diary?

kephm, Wednesday, 25 August 2004 17:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Cool is dead! It's all about oral sex techniques now!

nabisco (nabisco), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 17:06 (twenty-one years ago)

she owns every police album cept zenyatta mondatta right?

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 17:07 (twenty-one years ago)

the travis cds were a joke but the john mayer singles are ALL MINE

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 17:08 (twenty-one years ago)

what i find fascinating by it is how even though the thing reads as pretty depressing to all of us, she clearly think it's glamorous. she's seeing herself through the lens of almost famous while it's all happening!

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 17:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh c'mon, it's totally glamorous. She'll look back on this fondly for a lifetime. Maybe in thirty years Kate Hudson will interview her for her role in the new mother-daughter remake of The Banger Sisters.

nabisco (nabisco), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 17:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Nice boob job!

kickitcricket (kickitcricket), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 17:12 (twenty-one years ago)

It's sort of sweet... um, she's really hot?

g--ff (gcannon), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 17:12 (twenty-one years ago)

i saw julian in circuit city buying some xbox games a couple of weeks ago. he's not looking so fabulous these days.

(room on fire still sounds fantastic to me, btw)

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 17:12 (twenty-one years ago)

too many pringles

kephm, Wednesday, 25 August 2004 17:13 (twenty-one years ago)

haha - "these days"

seriously - to matt groening, cameron crowe, gilbert gottfried or whoever the fuck is editing the 'best music writing of 2004' anthology this paragraph:
Here's a low point though, because I never talk about the low points. I woke up hungover Sunday morning with no memory of Saturday night past 11 (what/who I did), and then I came close to screaming and crying because I thought I was in the room alone. It took me a full five minutes or so to realize that Julian was just in the shower and not in another bed somewhere with another girl(s). Took me only about 5 seconds after that to realize I was about to be sick, so I stumbled to the bathroom and managed to get to the toilet and threw up until I was puking bile. Jules standing there in the shower looking down at me and looking dead said "if only I could hide it as well as you do." Then for different reasons I came close to a breakdown and suddenly hated him more than I'd ever hated anything, but he said head up, baby, this shit isn't new to you anymore, you never do anything you don't intend to. So I got over it, as one does, then a smile and a kiss and a fuck and a song and back to normal.

is easily the best thing i've read on the strokes and if that fucking ilx thread on the strokes can make the cut (nevermind the usual awful 60% of whatever makes the cut) then this is a must.

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 17:14 (twenty-one years ago)

That paragraph is straight out of 'The Rules of Attraction'. It's fascinating and only surprising in how boring their lives seem. She is hot, but she also seems like a bit of a recovering goth, as opposed to being a blank 16 yo russian model which is more what I would expect from the lead singer of the strokes, as opposed to dealing with some looney chick who maintains a blog about their relationship.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 17:15 (twenty-one years ago)

babygirl if you read this: we are not laffing at you, we are not laffing with you. we are merely laying your head on our shoulder, stroking (ha!) your hair and whispering 'and then what happened?' and 'everything's gonna be alright', and then slowly nudging your head toward our crotch.

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 17:16 (twenty-one years ago)

today the part of cinniblount will be played by chris carrabba

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 17:17 (twenty-one years ago)

yikes
xpost

Magic City (ano ano), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 17:20 (twenty-one years ago)

man someone needs to email this link to vincent gallo with the addendum "go get 'em tiger!"

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 17:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I wonder if Ned only doesn't think this girl is attractive because of the Strokes connection?

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 17:21 (twenty-one years ago)

blount wants to rescue her!

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 17:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Are we going to do that thing where every ILX thread turns into an extended discussion of whether or not various girls are hot? My earlier jokes rely on my belief that she's not particularly hotter than thousands of other girls wandering around Manhattan. Whatever. She seems very normal and not particularly deserving of ridicule, pity, congratulation, or anything much at all.

And I'm not even just saying that because she's sure to track the link over and post on here. I'm saying it because I remember the shameful responses to my "electronic newsletter" during that three magical weeks I spent with Miki from Lush.

nabisco (nabisco), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 17:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Seriously, though, the thread is funny but the spirit is mean. Let her be young and free (and moderately hot and/or wealthy and/or compliant).

nabisco (nabisco), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 17:24 (twenty-one years ago)
