OTM. as someone who likes rap but listens to mostly indie/metal, i thought Tom's article was solid

It would be nice is P4k got deej or someone to keep a closer eye on hip-hop, or specific regional scenes, but what can you do.

I've been trying to get on with them for like two years now with no luck.

I was pretty happy when I got to the bottom of that article but then I realized there were 2 more pages to go

no, the article was solid, a good summary for those not following the convo, and i don't think a p4k writer needs ethically to be part of that convo in order to summarize it for his readers, but noz is justified in his crackaz is biters steez nonetheless, esp. if t.b. is fishing around for attention on the strength of it.

yeah, tom's original tweet was kind of desperate, but i know the feeling

like, when i spent 4+ hours writing a blog post about drake that was informed by months of internal thought, i was kind of disappointed when it only got 6 comments

but then again i didn't end up posting on twitter fishing for comments

i agree with whoever was saying rap blogs are awful: with a few exceptions its just people reposting youtubes with little to no commentary
is this really any different to other genres of music though? i don't read indie blogs but aren't they just reposting the new song by this new kewl band etc

i find out abt new rap from here and other message boards and occasionally irl friends. here is good: ppl are usually enthusiastic abt the music and not moaning abt the state of rap and calling each other fags etc.

i guess sometimes i get useful rap info from twitter but more often than not i have to unfollow rappers after they retweet every single person that says they like their new track

i'd actually really love to see a 'rap pitchfork' that pulled together a load of writers (if they can put aside their twitter beefs of course) with album reviews + longer pieces exploring regional scenes and stuff - there is really a place for something like this imo.
