i really like the touch my body song but the video is so gross I can never watch it. I found this freeze button on my remote though, the fun you can have making mariah pause in a weird face is great!

I know, right?, Sunday, 6 April 2008 15:53 (eighteen years ago)

fuck i don't know if i can listen to a leak of this.

are you kidding!!? the Touch My Body video is HILARRRRRRRIOUS. mariah being all "i'm so silly!"

love it

Surmounter, Sunday, 6 April 2008 18:18 (eighteen years ago)

Surmounter, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 01:07 (eighteen years ago)

really... side effects =P

Surmounter, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 01:08 (eighteen years ago)

i just had a v. tense argument w/ the high school paper's entertainment editor. it ended w/ me saying, 'fuck you and your fuckin augustana! i'm reviewing the new mariah album.'

Tape Store, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 02:18 (eighteen years ago)

haaa sweet

Surmounter, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 12:55 (eighteen years ago)

my great big observation on this one is: if Mimi was the pre-game record, then E=MC2 is mariah finally at the party

heehee

Surmounter, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 12:56 (eighteen years ago)

(mariah said Mimi was s'posed to be the makeup album, u know what you listen to when you're having your cocktail before you go out)

btw what's with the mary j. reference -- ain't no roses?

Surmounter, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 12:57 (eighteen years ago)

album is pretty good - not amazing or anything, a lot more pop/dance leaning than Mimi.. "O.O.C" "Side Effects" "For The Record" "I Stay In Love" "Lovin U Long Time" and "Cruise Control" are my faves so far (besides "touch my body")

The Brainwasher, Wednesday, 9 April 2008 03:57 (eighteen years ago)

wait...18 #1 singles?.
i can only think of 3 mariah carey songs.

Creeztophair, Wednesday, 9 April 2008 04:03 (eighteen years ago)

definitely more pop/dance, which i'm lovin! i don't know, i think it might definitely become amazing with a few spins.

i heard a different sequence than the vh1 listener above, but i think i generally agree w/ those comments. my only complaint was that 'ooc' doesn't have a outrageous vocals in the bridge. 'side efx' could be this year's 'umbrella' imo.

yes

Surmounter, Thursday, 10 April 2008 02:07 (eighteen years ago)

to the last part of that statement at least.

i can't wait to blast side efx tomorrow, home alone... best thing eva

Surmounter, Thursday, 10 April 2008 02:08 (eighteen years ago)

i stay in love with you is like the perfect love song

Surmounter, Thursday, 10 April 2008 19:43 (eighteen years ago)

so i think the "this is great but not amazing" observation really translates to = this is so seamless you forget it took effort kind of thing. really a grand effort! ;-)

Surmounter, Thursday, 10 April 2008 19:50 (eighteen years ago)

i want "i'll be lovin ya long time" to hit no. 1. i just think of high school, cars, friends and beer when it's on =P

Surmounter, Thursday, 10 April 2008 20:09 (eighteen years ago)

so OOC holds up well then! i actually really get into the chorus

Surmounter, Friday, 11 April 2008 02:24 (eighteen years ago)

turns out i've been mispronouncing her name this whole time

Charlie Howard, Friday, 11 April 2008 04:14 (eighteen years ago)

what??? how?

Surmounter, Friday, 11 April 2008 05:28 (eighteen years ago)

I adore "I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time," so joyful and awesome...kinda like "Good Life" with greater staying power

Tape Store, Friday, 11 April 2008 13:09 (eighteen years ago)

euphoric

Surmounter, Friday, 11 April 2008 15:03 (eighteen years ago)

wait did you just refer to a song from an album that hasn't even been released yet as having "staying power"?

Alex in Baltimore, Friday, 11 April 2008 15:12 (eighteen years ago)

maybe timeless is a better word?

Surmounter, Friday, 11 April 2008 15:33 (eighteen years ago)

perhaps "it sounded good last week and this week" would suffice.

Alex in Baltimore, Friday, 11 April 2008 15:46 (eighteen years ago)

wait did you just refer to a song from an album that hasn't even been released yet as having "staying power"?

-- Alex in Baltimore, Friday, 11 April 2008 15:12 (6 hours ago) Link

uhhh, person in making prediction shocker?

Tape Store, Friday, 11 April 2008 22:07 (eighteen years ago)

if you'd like my reasoning: the joy in Mariah's song is much subtler and more nuanced, whereas "Good Life" is based on IN YOUR FACE autotone/"PYT" sample.

Tape Store, Friday, 11 April 2008 22:12 (eighteen years ago)

also, not sure if 'joy' is what i meant...more like Mariah's performance is subtler

Tape Store, Friday, 11 April 2008 22:13 (eighteen years ago)

then why even compare it to good life

J0rdan S., Friday, 11 April 2008 22:13 (eighteen years ago)

why not beautiful girls but with more staying power

J0rdan S., Friday, 11 April 2008 22:13 (eighteen years ago)

i havent heard it, just wondering

J0rdan S., Friday, 11 April 2008 22:13 (eighteen years ago)

Because the two songs sound exactly alike. Both sound great the first couple times and start getting a little old after that.

Eric H., Friday, 11 April 2008 22:16 (eighteen years ago)

"Touch My Body" and "I'm That Chick" are both pretty great. Not really feeling too much of the rest of this album. Actually downright hate "Side Effects."

Eric H., Friday, 11 April 2008 22:16 (eighteen years ago)

why not beautiful girls but with more staying power

???

Because they don't sound like each other? Because "Beautiful Girl" isn't as energetic, good or fun?

Tape Store, Friday, 11 April 2008 22:23 (eighteen years ago)

can't stand Young Jeezy on this or on the latest Usher single...voice is soooo grating

Tape Store, Friday, 11 April 2008 22:26 (eighteen years ago)

bag you like some groceries

J0rdan S., Friday, 11 April 2008 22:28 (eighteen years ago)

i don't know how anyone could hate side effects, it sends shivers

Surmounter, Friday, 11 April 2008 22:38 (eighteen years ago)

not obscure enough

J0rdan S., Friday, 11 April 2008 22:39 (eighteen years ago)

=P right

Surmounter, Friday, 11 April 2008 22:53 (eighteen years ago)

Well the two main reasons for me hating "Side Effects" are a) the music and b) the lyrics.

Eric H., Saturday, 12 April 2008 03:03 (eighteen years ago)

Didn't really like this on 1st spin... all the songs seemed too generic... But it's grown on me a lot in the last 3 hours.. Can't get enough of Loving you long time and side effects is kinda stunning.

Christyles, Saturday, 12 April 2008 14:38 (eighteen years ago)

like a druuug

Surmounter, Saturday, 12 April 2008 14:55 (eighteen years ago)

"I Stay In Love" is breathtaking. It wouldn't sound out of place on Music Box or Daydream.

The Brainwasher, Saturday, 12 April 2008 20:21 (eighteen years ago)

i know! it's so funny that she's gone back with the sound a little, i like it

Surmounter, Saturday, 12 April 2008 20:34 (eighteen years ago)

I don't know if it's the production or what but I Stay in Love sounds like a chris brown ballad to me... Or maybe it's cos he's been doing mariah ballads... Anyway i love her voice in this one

Christyles, Saturday, 12 April 2008 20:47 (eighteen years ago)

I just fell in love with Thanks for Nothing...

Christyles, Saturday, 12 April 2008 21:20 (eighteen years ago)

I should stop listening to this now..

Christyles, Saturday, 12 April 2008 21:21 (eighteen years ago)

Thanks For Nothing is so good. sounds old school and the vox are greeeat

Surmounter, Saturday, 12 April 2008 21:26 (eighteen years ago)

so what else is gonna get to no. 1? Lovin La Long Time, I'm That Chick, Side Effects?

Surmounter, Saturday, 12 April 2008 21:29 (eighteen years ago)
