sorry to derail slightly, but soundcloud is really bugging me. I used to upload things fine but now when I upload it gets to about 99% and just stops. This has been happening with different files across a few weeks. any ideas what's going on?
― village idiot (dog latin), Saturday, 27 March 2010 09:06 (sixteen years ago)
^ Yeah, I just uploaded that mix and the first time I tried it I waited for a while and it never completed the upload so I had to start over. The uploading part of Soundcloud has always been a little off/slow for me, but I dont pay for a premium membership.

ok, strictly amateur hour here, but i did a couple of sets at some friends' sunday afternoon residency a couple of weeks ago and they now live on soundcloud. there's an unwritten 'sunday afternoon' element to the music policy there so it's usually a bit muted but, conversely, there's a feeling that you're only background music and the regulars are all pretty open minded anyway so...

Well, I managed to get at least 1 download out that "mix." Before anyone else should try to seek out non-existant Villalobos white-labels, or listen to a tracklisting that was copied directly from the Resident Advisor charts for March, I'd suggest you consult a calendar.
My apologies to whoever downloaded that mix, though. I'm working of a real one that should be done within the month.

As penance for my April's Foolery, here's my official top 10 dance techno/house tracks of the oughts, about 3 months late, but with Passover appropriate cover-design.
Since "What is Love," "Mr. Vain," etc. all came out in the 90's they unfortunately didn't make it on this list, and obviously you're here just getting the best of the best of the best, as far as I'm concerned, so...

here is one for the heart, one for the boogie: classic and soulful grooves designed with more intimate spaces in mind.
i made this mix for the purpose of getting more employment in smaller and "normal" local bars and clubs: really tried to make something both for the general public, meaning anyone from any walk of life, as well as the music heads. the ideal is a CD that almost any bar anywhere in the world can pop in their stereo at any given night and have people nod their heads, tap their feet, and maybe even get a little jiggy. how close the actual product ended up being to this ideal is yet to be tested, as well as my thesis that one does not have to succumb to lowest common denominators to appeal to everyone.
bass freaks need not worry: 6 is already finished and it's an Afro-Futurist banger! but i will give people a little time to digest this one a bit first... stream and single file download: http://fairtilizer.com/track/101055

I love Mixcloud. And here's my latest:
http://www.chromogenik.com/misc/madnote2.jpg http://www.chromogenik.com/misc/madnoteback.jpg
The original Mad-Note mixtape was recorded straight onto a C90 cassette (mixed live) back in 2003 when American Booze were running tings in C-Town. The tracks were classix, the mixing was terrible. Several years later, this is the new, improved version. The tracklisting is exactly the same as was on the mythical original. ENJOY! (and forgive the deluded self-hype/self-love shout out to delf mid-way thru' the mix)

listening now! and it's great! from my perspective, nice and funny to hear many of the same tracks chosen but being played in a different order. His ableton skills I think allows him to do some nice stuff to be keep it more beatcentric, while I kinda used several noise/ambient interludes to jump around between traktor and vinyl/cds.
Thanks for the heads up
