Just caught up with all these MS Paint threads. You are all v. talented and I'm dead jealous :) Since nobody else has commented on it, I'll just add that's a nice Cure 3 Imaginary Boys from Chris near the top.

Wow! I am amazed, Mr. "the surface noise". That is correct. The Sun, from The Cat Empire.
Awesome band that they are, I'm glad someone else knows of them.

Buckley of Santa Cruz, Tuesday, 6 April 2004 06:41 (twenty years ago) link

Where surfacenoise and I are from The Cat Empire is fairly unavoidable.

Pleased to Meet Me!

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 16:19 (twenty years ago) link

i can't imagine it would be possible (due to licensing/legal issues) but someone a long time ago (perhaps the first thread) mentioned that these works should be published in a collection and sold - anyone have any insight on how that could happen?

metfigga (metfigga), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 17:11 (twenty years ago) link

Presumably we'd have to get permission to use the artworks from the people or person that owns the copyrights on them... unless it counts as satire or something like that, and assuming of course that that exempts it from needing permission...

the impossible shortest special path! (the impossible shortest specia), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 17:17 (twenty years ago) link

I'd say, judging by the majority of the works that have been published on these threads, that they'd almost certainly all be covered as satire/fair use.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 18:07 (twenty years ago) link

Is there a means of determining this defintively? And, if the work is deemed "fair use" then everyone who has contributed art to be included in the project would need to sign a release of some sort eh?

Do we have any publishers here or anyone that knows someone? I think the work here is brilliant and there may very well be a market for such an offering.
