i'm def going. it's around corner from house. i know how influential and whatever he is, but the only mix of his i've ever heard is the resAdv mix and i was really underwhelmed.

where's there good to eat around bimbos? besides golden boy

depends on how much money you want to spend and how early you get there.

i've ended up ordering food at bimbo's a few times, but i'm not sure i'd recommend that per se.

before 10 there are loads of expensive restaurants to choose from- mos for burgers, a few decent thai and indian places, and a BUNCH of italian obviously. Later in the evening there's some burrito places near broadway and columbus, pizza, and of course all of chinatown if you want to walk a bit.

GGD was so great. zillion times better than at the independent a few years back.

I thought it was pretty great too (it would have been even better if I was as high spirit fingers guy right in the front was.)

there was an older couple right next to me that i swear had never heard of the band but were loving it because they were on ecstasy. get a fucking room

haha they were really annoying, so bizarre how people danced at this show but not at the Treasure Island Music Festival, i thought it would be a similar crowd, maybe a slightly cooler subset

btw the Indian food at the Irish bar across the street from Bimbo's is awesome (seriously!) they serve uttapam and everything

yeah, we ended up eating at Kennedy's. was really good north and south indian food.

Yeah it was good. I would never have guessed from the outside. We also had uttapam!

i agree that it was better than at the independent, i love bimbo's and wish they had more quality shows more often. but it is sorta difficult to get to (at least 3 buses, for me). also, how annoying is marnie stern? i didn't even see her set but she has quite the obnoxious voice/personality, as witnessed at the merch booth.

did anyone make it to see dixon/ame on sunday? i wanted to go, but who wants to spend their daylight hours (on an unseasonably nice day) in the dark, dank endup?

marnie stern was TERRIBLE. sounded like a highschool deerhoof cover band with someone that just learned how to do van halen tapping.

it wasn't easy to get there for me either. had to take the 12 from south of market and then walk about a mile down mason

i saw her once with just her and her ipod. and ye, terrible is the right word.

i realllllllly dug those new tracks ggd were playing, they have a few new ones in tow whenever i catch them and it always gets me super stoked for their next album. i almost heard some tinges of balearica in there? maybe this is an influence they've always had or maybe i just smoked too many joints and was reading into it too much.

i'd take lizzie's freestyle over that tinchy stryder verse any day, even if it was sort of a joke

they played a super beachy track with steel drums that was particularly good. didnt recognize it from Saint Dymphna either but House Jam rawked
