hahaha, never heard any of his set so I didn't know if he's regarded that low.
what about richard sen (padded cell)?
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Thursday, 25 March 2010 07:08 (sixteen years ago)
I'm just basing this on FdHC's music, and from what I can tell his tastes, if that's your thing he might be great, for all I know, he's definitely not my cup of tea, though.
Anyone seen/can comment on Soul Clap?
― ●●●●●●●● (EDB), Thursday, 25 March 2010 15:50 (sixteen years ago)
I saw Felix DJ Centro-Fly during the height of Electroclash. It was pretty awesome. He played Our Darkness...
― dan selzer, Thursday, 25 March 2010 19:42 (sixteen years ago)
Felix's mix with Diddy last year was pretty incessantly banging. If that's his DJing style these days don't expect much downtime.
― Matt DC, Thursday, 25 March 2010 20:18 (sixteen years ago)
green velvet?

― reyesmanuel, Saturday, 17 April 2010 19:56 (sixteen years ago)
should i go see lil louie vega at santos tonight? what should i expect to hear?
― reyesmanuel, Saturday, 17 April 2010 19:57 (sixteen years ago)
how was it, reyes? i'm guessing he played a lot of vocal house?
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Monday, 19 April 2010 15:21 (sixteen years ago)
what do you think of this lineup? i'm only familiar with major lazer, and they're the reason i'm going. but i want to know about the others. thanks.

Above and Beyond are Paul Van Dyk with less cred. If that is hard to get your head around you should watch their NYE 2007 show in Rio on Youtube. I'm pretty sure I've seen Spirit Catcher but I couldn't tell you if they are any good.
― mmmm, Friday, 21 May 2010 14:33 (sixteen years ago)
DJs I have seen in the past month that are absolutely worth seeing:
Justin Martin & Christian Martin (dirtybird)Michael Mayer (duh)Paco OsunaDerrick Carter (DUH)NadastromClassixxDeathface (Trouble & Bass)Tim Sweeney (always liked his radio show, but he's a shockingly good live DJ!)DJ Spen
― I DIED, Friday, 11 June 2010 08:53 (sixteen years ago)
Sweeney is so much better live than the radio show would suggest
― BIG SAUS aka the porkbanger (sic), Friday, 11 June 2010 10:50 (sixteen years ago)
anyone knows how ramadanman sounds live? i suggest pretty banging and club-friendly?
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Thursday, 22 July 2010 12:42 (fifteen years ago)
joris voorn or juan maclean + tiga? (all dj sets)
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Saturday, 14 August 2010 00:59 (fifteen years ago)
the latter. joris voorn is kind of a bore live, imo.
also, just a note: i didn't get to see Matias Aguayo that night in march. i was about to head over to the club when i got a call saying my house had been robbed. apparently, it was fucking awesome.

― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Friday, 22 October 2010 11:19 (fifteen years ago)
Never seen either 1 of them but would love to. One of them has new material iirc? Going to see Tensnake myself tonight. Should be great, right? Quite enjoy the 2cd mix. Anyhow, Hercules & Love Affair will be on first, and I loved them last summer.
― willem, Friday, 22 October 2010 15:13 (fifteen years ago)
benji b, anyone?
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Thursday, 28 October 2010 12:53 (fifteen years ago)
So, all set to see terrence Parker tonight in Liverpool, been excited for two months, but he's cancelled. Again. Should we still go to the party, a residents party that will either have a defiant 'party on' vibe or resemble a wake? Or should we head down the road for maurice Fulton for a fiver?
― These children will not kill my Gerrard for me oh, (or something), Friday, 5 November 2010 14:01 (fifteen years ago)
Here's hoping you went to see Maurice

anyone has seen ellen allien? how was it? thinking of catching her but heard some bad things about her beatmatching.
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Saturday, 2 June 2012 09:32 (fourteen years ago)
idk - i wouldn't have particularly high expectation tho the last time i saw her (2009?) she was surprisingly ok
― coal, Saturday, 2 June 2012 10:47 (fourteen years ago)
anyone ever seen mj cole? how was it?
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Tuesday, 4 September 2012 11:25 (thirteen years ago)
Watching him now. Looks like he doesn't beatmatch at all.
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Wednesday, 5 September 2012 17:41 (thirteen years ago)
booka shade dj set anyone?
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Sunday, 16 September 2012 07:52 (thirteen years ago)
booooring
― the late great, Sunday, 16 September 2012 08:42 (thirteen years ago)
tbf mj cole is more of an urban - ie hip hop / r&b - dj
― the late great, Sunday, 16 September 2012 08:43 (thirteen years ago)
you're right. he played 2step only 50% of the set. even threw some commercial house that I almost couldn't tolerate
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Sunday, 16 September 2012 08:46 (thirteen years ago)
ehm, late great, by "boring" did you mean mj cole or booka shade?
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Sunday, 16 September 2012 08:47 (thirteen years ago)
booka shade
― the late great, Sunday, 16 September 2012 09:04 (thirteen years ago)
It just me, or is it much easier, in the US, to throw 2step into r&b sets than dance sets? I find that they almost always kill the vibe in the latter. I at least have to be playing as much r&b as dance to play 2step at all.

what about the juan maclean?
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Monday, 15 October 2012 11:42 (thirteen years ago)
green velvet, yes yes yes
juan maclean, if it's cheap
― Crackle Box, Monday, 15 October 2012 12:25 (thirteen years ago)
The Juan Maclean live is amazing, Juan Maclean is a perfectly competent midtempo techno DJ
― set the controls for the arse of your mum (sic), Monday, 15 October 2012 12:56 (thirteen years ago)
heard some juan's mixes. sound like generic tech-house to me. I'll pass.
what about frankie knuckles? maybe this is a no brainer but he'll be playing to a "mainstream" crowd in a high class club so I have doubts.
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Tuesday, 30 October 2012 11:40 (thirteen years ago)
Just saw the Hawtin "Beyond EDM" tour, Hawtin was fine. The real disappointment was Kevin Saunderson.
Way too pounding and tracky for my tastes, especially for how early in the night it was.
Gaiser was surprisingly pretty good, better than Hawtin.
― Josiah Alan, Sunday, 18 November 2012 08:20 (thirteen years ago)
It was also fun playing "spot the grumpy old school techno head", they were the guys standing with their arms crossed in the middle of the dance floor.
― Josiah Alan, Sunday, 18 November 2012 08:26 (thirteen years ago)
I was actually really surprised at how hard edged everything was, went in expecting a bunch of M_nus ketted out minimal and got actual banging techno.
― Josiah Alan, Sunday, 18 November 2012 11:44 (thirteen years ago)
Maurice Fulton, anyone?
