Hayes Electronics stocks and sells a particular brand of microcomputer. It costs the firm $450 each time it places an order with the manufacturer for the microcomputers. The cost of carrying one microcomputer in inventory for a year is $170. The store manager estimates that total annual demand for the computers will be 1,200 units, with a constant demand rate throughout the year. Orders are received within minutes after placement from a local warehouse maintained by the manufacturer. The store policy is to never have stockouts of the microcomputers. The store is open for business every day of the year except Christmas Day. Determine the following:

a. Optimal order quantity per order

b. Minimum total annual inventory costs

c. The optimum number of orders per year

d. The optimum time between orders (in working days)

yeah, daniel, if you want to be exposed to endless discussion of horror movies, obscure prog, and any two guys with an oscillator and a distortion pedal, go to HN_AM. the one with Xs is just for release announcements.

*Artist: DEMOS YELLOW SWANS
Title: Live In The Police State Capitol
Format: LP
Label: Weird Forest
Country: USA
Price: $13.00
"Im extremely honored to release this one-sided twelve-inch by one of my favorite bands, D. Yellow Swans. 1/4" Tape, Guitar, Voice, Drum Machines, Microphones, Mixer Feedback, Various Electronics and Two Wonderful Fellas (formerly of Mur*der and Boxleitner) from San Francisco-via-Portland who craft Wolf Eyes-style pieces that build up to mammoth walls of noise via keyboards, guitars, processors, etc. This record is live recordings from Sacramento and Arcata, circa fall 2003. Theyve collaborated with Dead Science in the past, as well as sharing the stage with Nice Nice, Burning Star Core, Wives, and oodles of others - just so ya know where these guys are coming from. Forthcoming releases on Narnack, Deathbombarc, and gobs more. They improvise off each other to create the mesmeric, volatile yet controlled chaos of electronic sear, rasp and burn. Full spectrum tonality, sonic exploration, the opening of new doors of perception, spiritual journey, and the establishment of new, Â meaningful shared cultural experience in the tradition of folk and native musics from around the globe invoking Freedom, Happiness, Love, and the sharing and incitement of these feelings in others. Positivity. Total Liberation. Limited to 500 copies." - Weird Forest.

anyone? anyone?

never heard anything good about 'em but still never heard 'em.

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 22 July 2004 19:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I have the split 3" with Gang Wizard. I think the D Yellow Swans track is like them playing acoustic guitars and yelling in either a men's or women's bathroom. Maybe that's what the Gang Wizard side sounds like too. In any case it's pretty good.

Daniel DiMAGGIO (Daniel DiMAGGIO), Thursday, 22 July 2004 22:22 (twenty-one years ago)

They played in Prov. with Kites and I was told it was good, but I wasn't there myself.

one month passes...
Gygax, do you say that you "prefer the early stuff" by every band ever or am I imagining things?

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 01:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Anyway, I really like Wolf Eyes.

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 01:46 (twenty-one years ago)

What is the noisiest noise that Wolf Eyes ever recorded? I am writing an essay about noise (kind of)!

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 04:43 (twenty-one years ago)

It's the one that went ccrcrccrrstrcaytsccsdatycaveoooooooow!!!...and then went all quiet before doing it again about a minute and a half later.

The title of the song has "Maggot" or "Freak" in it.

yeah, exactly!

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 04:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Wolf Eyes isn't really particularly "noisy"

Extreme SUPER LOUD wall of sound noise mostly bores me and is pretty trivial to make

Free the Bee (ex machina), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 05:13 (twenty-one years ago)

You will hate my essay, Jon!

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 05:19 (twenty-one years ago)

(I've been thinking of you often during its composition.)

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 05:19 (twenty-one years ago)

(What do I know about noise after all!)

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 05:20 (twenty-one years ago)

i ate a twix just now

Free the Bee (ex machina), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 05:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Musicians in my essay so far that I call "noise": John Cage, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Dizzee Rascal, PJ Harvey, My Bloody Valentine, Ornette Coleman, Sonic Youth, Lil Jon, Neu!, Daft Punk.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 05:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I like all those artists!

Free the Bee (ex machina), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 05:23 (twenty-one years ago)

if you wanna understand wolf eyes, you need to understand DUB

i bought "stabbed in the face" and now really wish i hadn't

the surface noise (slight return) (electricsound), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 05:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Why not, esoj? i managed to not get that when it was in stores around here, but i really like burned mind; is there something about it that makes it weaker than other recent WE material (including dread/slicer/dead hills/any random whatever)?

Ian John50n (orion), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 05:19 (twenty-one years ago)

well i'm perhaps overstating the case but i'm yet to be convinced it's my sort of thing. i suck as a noize dude.

the surface noise (slight return) (electricsound), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 05:21 (twenty-one years ago)

oh, that's fair totally--they're not everyone's cup of tea. i'm still kind of curious (in a bizarre fetishistic sort of way) about what you don't like about it, and wolf eyes in general. i fear i don't remember sometimes.

Ian John50n (orion), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 05:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I love them now. Opposite of my post upthread.

Jon ex-machina, it is with British pride that I announce that Wolf Eyes are on the front cover of The Wire magazine.

DJ Martian (djmartian), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 15:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Does anyone in Britain actually read the Wire?

ha, jon check my blog - i was the first person on the web to critically attack the libertines before they even released anything.
