maybe 'no good', maybe 'charly'.
'out of space' is the most epochal.

Breathe. Not sure why.

Breathe.
― Whiney G. Weingarten, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 14:31 (eighteen years ago)
out of space.
― strongohulkington, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 14:36 (eighteen years ago)
I know this is my poll but I kind of want to choose all of them except for "Wind It Up (Rewound)" and "Spitfire".
― HI DERE, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 14:38 (eighteen years ago)
i'll be surprised if anything from this decade gets a vote - even Girls.
― blueski, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 14:42 (eighteen years ago)
id vote for 'you'll be under my wheels' if i could.
― ☪, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 14:44 (eighteen years ago)
"Breathe," and I know why: "The Trick."
― Eric H., Wednesday, 12 September 2007 14:55 (eighteen years ago)
This poll is going to surprise me, isn't it.
― HI DERE, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 15:44 (eighteen years ago)
I heard "Smack My Bitch Up" at SohoLounge the other night, but "Breathe" sounded absolutely amazing the last time I heard it, so it's dat one.
― Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 15:46 (eighteen years ago)
i am surprised by the 'breathe' love, by the 'fat of the land' love.
― That one guy that hit it and quit it, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 15:46 (eighteen years ago)
No love for "Poison"? I think that's my choice, although it's really difficult!
― Neil S, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 15:50 (eighteen years ago)
I am amazed that so many people love "Breathe" more than the other singles! (I am not surprised that so many people love "Breathe", it's a fucking awesome song.)
― HI DERE, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 15:55 (eighteen years ago)
Predic: 0 votes for Firestarter.
― Mark G, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 16:01 (eighteen years ago)
I bet the Genaside II remix would have gotten votes.
― HI DERE, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 16:02 (eighteen years ago)
"Voodoo People"
― Frogman Henry, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 16:03 (eighteen years ago)
only heard it once like, but single version of 'spitfire' >>>> album version
re: poll, probably 'girls'. even tho 'out of space' is better.
― tissp, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 16:21 (eighteen years ago)
or 'charly'.
fuck, this is difficult actually
― tissp, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 16:22 (eighteen years ago)
"Voodoo People," though maybe I should've voted "Firestarter" if I was being completely honest with myself
― The Good Dr. Bill, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 16:33 (eighteen years ago)
no good
― groovemaaan, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 17:21 (eighteen years ago)
"Diesel Power" shoulda been a single.
― lukas, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 17:26 (eighteen years ago)
lukas OTM
― HI DERE, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 17:27 (eighteen years ago)
"Out of Space" - it's the most singley. I adore the track to "Smack My Bitch Up." Too bad they couldn't be saying "Snack My Chips Up" immediately before re-entry.
― Kevin John Bozelka, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 17:31 (eighteen years ago)
That Pendulum remix is vv good, but that would feel like a vote for Pendulum instead of the Prodigy.
― StanM, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 17:33 (eighteen years ago)
I'm the obvious muhfuc who voted for "Firestarter". There, I said it and I'm not clicking back on this thread, so there's no use in berating me for it.
― The Reverend, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 17:34 (eighteen years ago)
this band is a novelty act
― El Tomboto, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 17:36 (eighteen years ago)
"Out of Space" is the one for me alright. Still, I really wish I could vcte for "Poison," "Voodoo People," and "Breathe" as well.
― JN$OT, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 17:38 (eighteen years ago)
I'll take the rave killer, I think.
― Alex in SF, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 17:45 (eighteen years ago)
All six of them???
― HI DERE, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 17:51 (eighteen years ago)
Haha I meant "Charly".
― Alex in SF, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 17:55 (eighteen years ago)
Oooh too hard. I've got a few days to decide between: - Out of Space - No Good (Start the Dance) - Voodoo People
― Tim F, Thursday, 13 September 2007 03:19 (eighteen years ago)
For some reason "No Good (Start the Dance)" strikes me as being one of the best titles for a song ever.
― Tim F, Thursday, 13 September 2007 03:20 (eighteen years ago)
it's a toss b/w "no good" and SMBU for me.
― tricky, Thursday, 13 September 2007 03:26 (eighteen years ago)
out of space, but this is an amazing list of singles
― jabba hands, Thursday, 13 September 2007 03:41 (eighteen years ago)
Smack My Bitch Up - just for the "controversy".
― SeekAltRoute, Thursday, 13 September 2007 03:45 (eighteen years ago)
this is an amazing list of singles <--- otm
― HI DERE, Thursday, 13 September 2007 04:42 (eighteen years ago)
I got to admit I've not heard anything after 1996, but up until then it's def. amazing. Still hard to top the stuff that eventually became Experience (in one form or another) though.
― Alex in SF, Thursday, 13 September 2007 04:54 (eighteen years ago)
That remix of "Wind It Up" is kind of awful, though.
― HI DERE, Thursday, 13 September 2007 05:35 (eighteen years ago)
I voted "Firestarter" and I don't care who knows it!
― Davey D, Thursday, 13 September 2007 06:42 (eighteen years ago)
"Firestarter" is great, what is the problem?
― Tim F, Thursday, 13 September 2007 07:55 (eighteen years ago)
In fact surely "Breathe" is the cornier choice, if that is what we're referring to - although I like both about equally.
'No Good (Start the Dance)' by a huuuuge margin. Whenever I put that song on, I end up listening to it on repeat at least 10 times.
― sous les paves, Thursday, 13 September 2007 08:17 (eighteen years ago)
The person who says "I voted for 'Hotride' and I don't care who knows it!" is taking a much braver stance IMO (ps I do like the song, it's just... well, THAT'S your favorite single by them, compared to everything else??? wau).
― HI DERE, Thursday, 13 September 2007 11:38 (eighteen years ago)
Alex In SF has never heard Firestarter or anything after??
― blueski, Thursday, 13 September 2007 13:13 (eighteen years ago)
I think I want to change my vote to 'No Good (Start the Dance)' or 'Out of Space'
Tough poll.
― onimo, Thursday, 13 September 2007 14:10 (eighteen years ago)
I'm also liking 'Poison' more than I remember liking it at the time.
― onimo, Thursday, 13 September 2007 14:13 (eighteen years ago)
I haven't heard anything after 1996 either.
I think I might vote for Voodoo People.
― Colonel Poo, Thursday, 13 September 2007 14:16 (eighteen years ago)
"Poison" is THE SHIT.
(I still voted for "One Love", tho)
― HI DERE, Thursday, 13 September 2007 14:24 (eighteen years ago)
Other utterly corny opinion time: I wish I hadn't heard anything after (or including) 1996. (Girls is fun enough I guess.)
I wd vote for all these Jilted singles, and probably all the Experience ones. Choices! Probably it ought to be Out Of Space but that feels like too obvious a choice somehow.
― a passing spacecadet, Thursday, 13 September 2007 15:45 (eighteen years ago)
"Alex In SF has never heard Firestarter or anything after??"
Anything AFTER 1996!
― Alex in SF, Thursday, 13 September 2007 15:56 (eighteen years ago)
I thought that "Spitfire" and "Hotride" were really odd singles choices.
― HI DERE, Thursday, 13 September 2007 15:59 (eighteen years ago)
...though "Break and Enter" is better than any of their singles
Tuomas OTM. I'm going for Everybody In The Place (the fairground version that was the big hit, definitely NOT the album version).
― Nasty, Brutish & Short, Thursday, 13 September 2007 16:12 (eighteen years ago)
Was it really from 91? I know Charly was, but I remember EITP as being early 92.
― Nasty, Brutish & Short, Thursday, 13 September 2007 16:14 (eighteen years ago)
EITP was released in December '91 in the UK but there was the original version (different to the one everyone knows) earlier that year also.
'The Way It Is' and 'You Will Be Under My Wheels' are the best tracks on the album but dunno if they would've worked better as singles. glad the Liam G one wasn't put out at least.
― blueski, Thursday, 13 September 2007 16:18 (eighteen years ago)
another vote for "poison"
― drone/a/sore, Thursday, 13 September 2007 19:18 (eighteen years ago)

― HI DERE, Sunday, 16 September 2007 04:20 (eighteen years ago)
Bit sad that no-one voted for What Evil Lurks - yes Out Of Space is better but Android is easily their second best track people!
― Siegbran, Sunday, 16 September 2007 11:44 (eighteen years ago)
justice has been served
― strongohulkington, Sunday, 16 September 2007 19:35 (eighteen years ago)
"Spitfire" should have gotten more votes, the entirety of of "Always Outnumbered" is massively underrated
― J0hn D., Sunday, 16 September 2007 19:37 (eighteen years ago)
not really
― The Good Dr. Bill, Sunday, 16 September 2007 20:38 (eighteen years ago)
YA RLY
― HI DERE, Sunday, 16 September 2007 20:39 (eighteen years ago)
no love for g-force pt. 1, what the FUCK
― sirwalterj, Monday, 17 September 2007 12:22 (eighteen years ago)
unless the 6 people who voted for EITP took that into consideration.
― blueski, Monday, 17 September 2007 12:30 (eighteen years ago)
I voted for Everybody in the Place, thanks to the excellent b-sides. I love Poison's b-sides too, so that's a close second.
― Duane Barry, Monday, 17 September 2007 13:00 (eighteen years ago)
The video for Charly is awesome sort of proto paperrodddeo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XH7xdFUwAVY
I pretty much hate Music for the Jilted Generation on... but I like Girls ;O
― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Sunday, 6 January 2008 18:24 (eighteen years ago)
I wish someone would release a dance album as seemingly underground and nasty as Music For A Jilted Generation. Somehow when I was about 14 and it came out, it sounded so volatile, scarey even but in a good way.
― the next grozart, Sunday, 6 January 2008 18:38 (eighteen years ago)
jon, the video is based on the government warning cartoon of the track's namesake which was always shown on Sunday morning children's TV from the 70s up until about the time the track started getting famous.
― the next grozart, Sunday, 6 January 2008 18:40 (eighteen years ago)

Have we done a HACKERS ost poll?
― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Sunday, 6 January 2008 20:39 (eighteen years ago)
Voodoo People >>>>>>> One Love
Didn't see this, but "Out Of Space" winning ahead of "Out Of Time" seems just about right.
― Geir Hongro, Sunday, 6 January 2008 21:45 (eighteen years ago)
Hmm. Ahead of "Breathe", I mean (where'd I get that "Out Of Time" from?)
One Love is banging, especially the crazy didgeridoo-sounding bit.
― chap, Sunday, 6 January 2008 21:52 (eighteen years ago)
"One Love" has their greatest ever video. And that's it.
― Geir Hongro, Sunday, 6 January 2008 21:54 (eighteen years ago)
Charley Says... public information animations for kids
No paperradesque ravey neon flashes and frenetic cut-ups or anything, but I did just cry laughing at the teapot incident. I don't remember them being this funny as a kid. So much for maturity.
― a passing spacecadet, Monday, 7 January 2008 09:36 (eighteen years ago)
One love is kinda crap.
Anyway, anyone know what the origin of the "meow" in Charley is?
― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 18:03 (eighteen years ago)
haha, ok I just watched the videos and realized that the CAT is charley and it all makes sense

Missed this one, I've no idea what I would've voted for. Maybe Everybody in the Place.
― chap, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 18:06 (eighteen years ago)
I've realized, one of the reasons I love "One Love" so much is that metallic thump on beats 4 and 1
I'd repoll this with the Invaders Must Die singles but let's face it, no one is voting for any of them (even though "Omen", "Warrior's Dance" and "Take Me To The Hospital" are all great)
― CLUB PISCOPO (DJP), Friday, 12 August 2011 22:59 (fourteen years ago)
finally ripped all of my Prodigy shit and put it on my phone
tempted to poll b-sides but I'm pretty sure "Your Love" would stomp all over everything
― relentless technosexuality (DJP), Friday, 12 April 2013 14:36 (thirteen years ago)
Seemed an appropriate thread to bump just to note the oddness of seemingly all versions of 'Wind It Up' having been removed from Spotify including its listing on all Experience editions where it's not even just an unplayable track in faint text but completely gone from the tracklist.
― nashwan, Tuesday, 1 October 2024 10:56 (one year ago)
very weird, especially since "your love" still starts with a "wind it up" vocal sample. spotify's "experience" is also missing "hyperspeed" and "charly"
