not being glib or anything, but u guys should get like a little walkman or clock radio or one of those waterproof dealies that can go in the shower, imo a few minutes a day of radio listening is nice. tbh i don't know why FM radios aren't part of the package with iPods, i know why include a dead technology with the hot new thing etc. but it seems like a no-brainer to me.

Not really a "no-brainer" since Apple wants you to fill your iPod with songs you pay them money for, not listen to for free. But I totally agree w/ your premise. Kicking back with the FM radio now and then can be a good thing.

tbh minaj has never worn, said or done anything that struck me as obviously gaga-esque or gaga inspired

the rigid fembot thing reminds me a lot of how gaga poses/acts on stage

when has gaga actually done rigid fembot moves, i can't think of any examples. that seems more the province of beyonce imo.

Actually it raises the question, to what extent has Gaga been influenced by the aforementioned high-profile female rappers of the 90s/00s? Like it seems a pretty reasonable thing to interrogate, esp. re Lil' Kim and Missy, but I haven't run across anyone writing about that. Are people just more comfortable linking her up to Peaches or whatever indie electro type person, or has Gaga herself emphasized other lines of influence? (Or, I guess, is the connection all in my head?)

first of all, for some reason minaj is yelling her verse and it seems like she can't really find her footing in these massive heels, so it comes off like an amy poehler parody or something

also the best part is that her fembot routine gets thrown off by people accidentally batting beach balls at her

locking seems excessive, but i'm fine w/ the other one being the default thread in the future. i just revived this one because this is the thread where we talked about the 'sideburns' line.

"my chick bad" is my jam until nicki comes in, I mean not that luda's verses are amazing but the "nightmare on elm street and guess who's playing freddy!" thing is like a whole nother level of get this shit off my radio now

the thing about that line is that it would work for me alright if she didn't also say "friday the 13th and guess who's playing jason," putting both those references in the first in the exact same construction feels so amateurish and lazy.

i have a grudging respect for the uncompromising schtick overload of "Massive Attack" but "Your Love" is just such a lame-ass retreat in the other direction.

also imo Nicki is really the lest of "My Chick Bad"'s problems, shitty beat, shitty hook, worst Luda verses ever

i really unapologetically love "massive attack" - i love how it takes a few listens to arrange itself in your head but once it does you pretty much grow to love every aspect of it

what do you think of the tinny timid generic "Your Love" though

"Massive Attack" is a lot stickier than I would have expected the first time I heard it. I have "Mmmassive attack! Mmmmassive attack!" and "Tom toms over here bigger than a monster/ Blak! Blak! Blaka!" stuck in my head all the time, which doesn't quite translate into me wanting to listen to it.
