I started my DJ Sprinkles thread on 13 November 2008. This was several weeks after grabbing it, which itself was several weeks after Pete Chambers emailed me to say "you gotta grab this awesome album which I'm surprised people aren't talking about more."

Mind you Pete visits Japan alot AFAIK.

i still haven't really thoroughly delved into taylor's first album

i might love "tim mcgraw" and "our song" even more than anything on fearless

i remember looking up the dj sprinkles album after u posted abt it here tim and all i could find were japanese websites

i like "tim mcgraw" & "teardrops on my guitar" but i don't really know the album tracks

I think the highs are higher in many ways - or, rather, there's a kind of joyful country effervescence at times that I really like - but it's not as consistent. I think all you really need are "Tim McGraw", "Picture To Burn", "Cold As You", "Stay Beautiful", "Mary's Song (Oh My My)", "Should've Said No", "Our Song" and "Invisible".

WHAT I always thought it was "So go and tell your friends I'm obsessive and crazy / that's fine, you won't mind if I say... by the way... I HATE YOUR etc."

There's a real sass to some of those tracks which i think is missing on the second album which is a lot more earnest. I suspect because first time around she was writing more deliberately for a country audience. it has the odd effect of making the first album seem older (in terms of the age of the songwriter) than the second.

haha i think "you won't mind if i say" is the radio/video edit. yeah taylor's so clean-cut and princessy that she needs a radio edit at the age of 16

i love the way she slips into "burn, burn, burn baby burn" at the end

and yeah otm about how the country focus makes her seem older - or maybe rougher, more working class - on her debut

i looove fearless but her debut mostly leaves me cold. i should revisit

lil surprised yyy's is top 5 but it has a lot of fans here i guess. i think it's boring tbh

The costumes are okay (there's a white dress for the end of "Love Story" though) - it was the standing still and accepting praise for like ten minutes with a look of faux-surprise on her face, about three times during the concert, plus the ostentatious descent from the back of the auditorium to the centre between "Hey Stephen" and "Fifteen", hugging each and every tween present, like Bono at Live Aid to a factor of 1000.

Psyched for a top five that I really enjoy, btw -- voted for The-Dream, Fever Ray, the xx; enjoy the YYYs album a good deal, don't think I voted for it, though; didn't vote for Electrik Red because I picked it up too late but holy hell, it's a great listen.

been listening to the Q&K record loads recently, trying to usher summer in w/the power of wishful thinking alone - such a great record, probably wd be my #1 were you to re-poll today

yeah i tried to find a big enough photo of them w/ the camels but everything was super small
