hey deej did you see Reynolds listened to yr mix (and also thought that quietus piece was the most amazing piece of writing evar)?
― freebird manjunya (zvookster), Tuesday, 23 February 2010 18:48 (sixteen years ago)
deej's laptop is up in heaven with biggie and tupac so he might not have seen that reynolds listened to his mix -- i'll text him tho cuz that's pretty cool
― /b/ OK (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 23 February 2010 19:58 (sixteen years ago)
it's too bad cuz i wonder how deej feels about big krit revealing himself to be freddie gibbs pt 2
― /b/ OK (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 23 February 2010 20:41 (sixteen years ago)
in what sense?
― freebird manjunya (zvookster), Tuesday, 23 February 2010 21:14 (sixteen years ago)
in the sense that deej was criticizing gibbs for being this sort of MOR rapper with all the right southern touchstones but no real discernible personality or exciting music to justify the hype -- and these songs that krit is putting out sound like gibbs songs in that sense to me -- nothing wrong with that of course, but not exactly the antidote that deej was talking about back in dec or so
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 23 February 2010 21:20 (sixteen years ago)
if u can find me a gibbs track more boring than krit's "hometown hero" my hat is off to u
― freebird manjunya (zvookster), Tuesday, 23 February 2010 21:31 (sixteen years ago)
i'll save my eye muscles the strain
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 23 February 2010 21:32 (sixteen years ago)
are you listening to the Cocaine retail or the big three disc bootleg thing?
― freebird manjunya (zvookster), Tuesday, 23 February 2010 21:46 (sixteen years ago)
retail -- i know ro unassociated himself with it but it was a less daunting undertaking than the bootleg
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 23 February 2010 21:47 (sixteen years ago)
yeah the bootleg is hard to process, i play the retail a lot more. i love the 15 minute screwed "fondren & main" on it tho.
― freebird manjunya (zvookster), Tuesday, 23 February 2010 21:53 (sixteen years ago)
it would've been on my p&j ballot had i heard it before this week
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 23 February 2010 22:10 (sixteen years ago)
posting from a liberry computer -- yeah i can already see KRIT is gonna be BoB'd out of listenability within the year -- apparently having too many influences is just as MOR as having none. he needs time to develop w/out the internet soaking up every good/wack track he drops
― average dump from average gangsters (deej), Wednesday, 24 February 2010 00:27 (sixteen years ago)
Somewhat belatedly I've checked out and fallen head over heels for Trunk Muzik. What an amazing album.

guys
so my roommate had these girls over, and one of them was talking about how he knew this dude who did a rap song and we gotta hear it, so we go to queue it up on facebook, and the girl is like "his name is 'Goon'" -- so at this point i'm obviously internally rofling at this dude going by merely Goon -- AND THEN IT TURNS OUT THAT THE GUY'S BIRTH SURNAME IS GOON
― Yo cassidy is so hot. He blowin up really big. His freestyles are si (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 25 February 2010 06:17 (sixteen years ago)

wacka is performing on 106 atm
― hard out here for a shrimp (J0rdan S.), Friday, 26 February 2010 23:11 (sixteen years ago)
hahaha this is so hilariously bad
he's stopped rapping so he can headbang -- his hypeman is a mini wocka
they just did a lil wayne @ the grammys & bleeped out a whole two bars -- apparently this guy is some sort of sex symbol
― hard out here for a shrimp (J0rdan S.), Friday, 26 February 2010 23:12 (sixteen years ago)
i don't think they practiced this performance
he seems like a good kid in this interview with an actual personality, i can see why he's kinda becoming a star -- at least comparing him to OJ who has to be the most unintelligent person i've ever heard speak
rocsi is reporting that waka likes to read a lot
― hard out here for a shrimp (J0rdan S.), Friday, 26 February 2010 23:24 (sixteen years ago)

it's really fun to watch 106 from time to time -- it's in some way comforting to temporarily enter a world where juelz still has some sort of discernible career & where people like dj khaled
― waka flocka pedia (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 27 February 2010 00:00 (sixteen years ago)
I have a tivo pass, though i tend to just zip through as 80% is the same from night to night. The "live" performances tend to be very revealing. Sade was kind of interesting. Their production values (as with virtually every show on BET) are just amazingly weak.
― forksclovetofu, Saturday, 27 February 2010 01:00 (sixteen years ago)
i was a faithful watcher in the aj & free days, shit just ain't the same without 'em. zinging terrence j is still the highlight of my brief public speaking career.

i'm inexplicably loving like 30% of the stuff waka flocka flame puts out. unlike oj who's actually incapable of rapping well in no matter what context, waka (at his best) is just the slightest notch above too retarded/goofy and it's a really good space for him imo.

noz sent u the virus that shut down his imo
now i ain't never been to 106 & Park and sat on the couch / but i'm a legend in this rap in the soooooouth
i watch 106 & Park occasionally tho i feel i should be boycotting the axing of rap city, and it's so bright and perky it makes me wanna kill, and the clean versions of the 20 secs of good music on any given show are worthless. i did support masta ace's astroturfing campaign for "lil young" on there coz i thought that would be lol.
digging the return of dirty harriet termination salvation john connor all you robot chickens you not spittin oh no not twittin. not sure a whole project with Nottz is AGL tho. "warning shots" beat is joe cocker looped with some weird high toms???
excited about D-lo planned proper album this year. play the fuck out of "hardest in the bay" off the dj fresh. must check his tonight show "episode", anyone heard it? deej?
also lil b is gonna be a dj fresh tonite show guest this year!

"hardest in the bay" also in You, Tim, 2009 btw
― zvookster, Sunday, 28 February 2010 04:03 (sixteen years ago)
dlo is cool yeah. great rapper in a more e40 mold kinda? i tend to gravitate more towards rappers w/ that ineffable jacka swag rather than manic dudes, as a general rule, but thats more a 'preference' than a shot on quality. his dj fresh tape is great

i've been listening to this five times a day for the past week or so. at first i thought there was something wrong with me but now i'm pretty sure it's actually legitimately brilliant. i'd pass on suga shane but the hook and waka's verse are so deep in my heart right now.

― waka flocka pedia (J0rdan S.), Monday, 1 March 2010 04:22 (sixteen years ago)
is the beat purposefully a carbon copy of "o let's do it" or
i think i might be too genetically disposed to non-violence to understand the appeal of waka outside of him being a straight ahead dumb rapper like soulja boy or paul wall or something
