ummm.... not "Funky Ride", probably not "Crumblin' Erb" either, and voting for the reprise of "Player's Ball" would be weird, classic as it is ("Cadillacs are coming from everywhere" A++). other than that, I'll be damned

in terms of pure mc appreciation, this might be their best album. still my favourite of theirs, though its hard to pick.

"Player's Ball" easy -- but great album, I oughta pull this one off the shelf more often.

"Crumblin' Erb." So relaxed yet somehow...sinister.

I'll probably pick "Player's Ball" but just want to register my deep love for "Myintrotoletuknow", one of my favourite album openers ever.
― Number None, Monday, 22 February 2010 15:11 (sixteen years ago)
crumblin erb, easy

in terms of pure mc appreciation, this might be their best album.
this is otm, although i'm thinking of voting the title track or "ain't no thang" on the strength of the blinding greatness their hooks have burned into my memory. i'll listen through before i vote, though.

I was always kind of annoyed that the album didn't have this mix of Player's Ball:

^he still has a goofy hat on the cover. But it's so funny thinking about 3000 now and hearing him say things like "This ain't no secret garden/so you flower niggas flee" and hella gun talk.
As far as the poll goes I'm gonna go with Myintro... They just come out of the gate so hard

D.E.E.P. though really there aren't many lowlights on this album. also a nod goes to "MyIntroToLetYouKNow'. love the production on this album
― Ballistic, Wednesday, 24 February 2010 03:15 (sixteen years ago)
probably myintrotoletuknow. Also love Big Rube's interlude on the meaning of Outkast - "take back your existence or die like a punk"

i remember 1993 was about the year I first started listening to rap that wasnt MC Hammer and hearing teh title track on the radio....hearing the name "Dre" dropped and stupidly thinking it was Dr. Dre.
then again I often got confused when watching "Who's the Man?" too....

I would have voted "Myintrotoletuknow" or "D.E.E.P.".
the former is a helluva way to introduce yourself to the rap world.

going to be marathoning outkast and dre stuff on and off in preparation for friday, so started at the beginning.
funny "crumblin erb" almost took this. that would've been my vote. pretty significant track. there's so much going on here, almost feels like it works against the album's favor. but i mean... this is musical hallowed ground for me. i wish i could say i'm revisiting for the first time in a while, but nah. this is music i will always enjoy. do people still consider this second tier in their catalogue? i mean dre had a lot of room for growth obviously, but even at the time, he was clearly better than most. he was 19 lol.
