video is a slightly new mix than what got released on the Internet - when she says "picture Black Sam sayin 'yessuh massah'" now there's a big "NO!!" shouted out by some background vocalists.... just to make it clear I guess...

and apparently the word "chocha" is too dirty for MTV!! it's blanked out! in general the video is grebt if not exceptional... continues her spooky/odd thing and i admire them for trying to actually literalize Missy's oddball lyrics

What's even funnier in the video is that they edit "Go downtown and eat it like a vulture" by cutting out "eat it," as apparently those are offensive words to MTV. Odd.

I think he was supposed to be more the suggestion of Prince than anything else. Besides, bee-covered DJs are always great, and that little girl was CUTE. Plus the forwards-backwards stuff is the best use of that particular trick since Roni Size's "Brown Paper Bag" video.

Dear "Work It",

I don't know how to tell you this tactfully, and I hate beating around the bush, so I've just gotta say it: I've grown bored of you. I don't know what happened. It was a steamy, fiery affair we had indeed, and a lot of fun while it lasted. Who knows, maybe the undercurrent of doubt was there all along and I just did an ace job of stifling/ignoring it. Don't take it personally. Honest, I did my very *very* best to convince myself that those backwards lyrics were really exciting, real cutting-edge pop. And I really do admire that minimal bassline! You know I've never thought it was too "stark" -- it's not how many notes you play, it's how you play them (yeah it's a cliche but it's really true). So don't go feeling bad about yourself, 'kay? It's not you, it's me, and it just took me a little while to figure out that this isn't where I want to be. I guess the first sign might've been when you made fun of those Chinese guys -- haha it's just a joke, a laugh, I told myself at first, but somewhere in the back of my mind I wondered if I could ever be with someone who said such things so casually. Then your video -- I mean, I could tell you put a lot into it, but it just left me... wanting, somehow. Like when you think something's too good to be true and you turn out to be right. What we had was hot, I can't deny that; you searched me, you worked me, and I loved it. But -- (Jesus this sounds lame and I'm sorry) -- I'm getting to that age where I need more from a relationship. Maybe I just expect too much, but I can't hide my dissatisfaction; that's not fair to me, and it sure isn't fair to you.
