This Dave Aju album from last year did the all-voice thing very well, I thought.

Don't forget Todd Rundgren's A Capella. Or do, maybe, but it had its highlights -- "Pretending to Care" is the track I still come back to.

The more I listen to it the more I think that every single sound on the album, incl bass and percussion, was made from voice samples. Does anyone know if this is true?

Pretty certain it isn't, just checked the press release and it mentions other instruments (and, sort of weirdly, makes v little play of the voice manipulation thing at all)

There are definitely other sounds on it - not sure any of them are electronic though.

also- that dave aju album is pretty great. caught my attention way more than the matias aguayo did, but it's not like i've spent much time with either.

Considering how well Mariah and Rihanna performed, I think ER will be top 10. R&B voters be out in force.

xx is #3 pitchfork and #7 pazz and jop by the way. under G in p&j, and above PDG in p4k.

all the others feel v. american even if p r french, xx r totes british, get cred for r doing actually good remixes and seeming a lot hipper than the other guys who just seem "hip" right now

I've expressed plenty of satisfaction and dissatisfaction with the actual albums making the list, but I don't think I've jabbed at the actual list at all, I think it's fantastic and I'm really enjoying the slow unveiling and surrounding discussion.

Not to mention, your speculative comment about the full list tops anything I've said in terms of potential dissatisfaction with the 50 collective albums:

i don't think this albums list will top the greatness of the trax list. with tracks there's way more of a chance for oddball picks to make it, whereas i imagine this'll be a lot less unique and will bear a much greater resemblance to p&j/pitchfork.
