yeah but even with rappers i like too. i mean it's not surprising, it's just one of those things you notice a lot more when you're listening for it. i know i'm not stating anything we don't all agree with but it's a godawful trend

i don't think it's the construction so much as the particularly lazy use young money make of it that amuses/annoys. that juelz santana single w/the fergie line is really excellent (it's the one on yelawolf's mixtape right?) and that's a good line anyway. i really like the luda/minaj single too, and am v much pro-minaj saturation.

anyway kevin isn't totally wrong -- the problem isn't the simile-simile style it's just that there haven't been many very good punchline rappers in forever, which is why like fabolous was the second most successful east coast rapper of the 2000s aside from jay-z

You know as much as you guys make fun of Slaughterhouse, those guys are basically just good punchline rappers

i didn't listen to the slaughterhouse record but i can confirm that joe budden is about as far from a "good" punchline rapper as can be possible with someone who has any sort of talent

I'd totally stan for the slaughterhouse album if the beats weren't lame as fuck

my problem with punchline rappers nowadays is that the songs date themselves so much bcuz those have pissing contests over who can get the most lines transcribed in the nah right comments section... so if you wanna enjoy a joe budden record that was put out 8 months ago you still have to able to lol at like taylor swift & kanye west
