^ Fabric 45: so, so good

A terrific introduction to a hitherto little-known artist.

Begone dull care was probably the biggest disappointment of 2009 for me; idk, both production and melody wise, it just seemed totally flat. Though not as flat and boring as royksopp have always been and still are. Omar-s on the other hand, was just sleek and perfect; don't think I voted for it but it would have been one of the 2-3 I had to ditch at the last minute

Mungolian Jet Set another of my votes.

Freddy 'The Wonder Chicken' (Gukbe), Friday, 12 February 2010 17:38 (sixteen years ago)

mungolian jetset album is fun & funny and pretty heady

Errm...

DavidM, Friday, 12 February 2010 19:00 (sixteen years ago)

Lily Allen had a new album?

skip, Friday, 12 February 2010 19:01 (sixteen years ago)

rly?

De que estas hablando? (Tannenbaum Schmidt), Friday, 12 February 2010 19:03 (sixteen years ago)

ha, and i was hoping it would place higher

kaygee, Friday, 12 February 2010 19:10 (sixteen years ago)

hurray for mungolian jetset! that is a truly odd album, pretty cool that it placed so high

psychgawsple, Friday, 12 February 2010 19:33 (sixteen years ago)

this list is really bizarre, but not really in a bad way i guess

dig that lily allen album, didn't vote for it tho

vag gangsta (k3vin k.), Friday, 12 February 2010 20:03 (sixteen years ago)

lollll i know nothing from this list

call all destroyer, Friday, 12 February 2010 20:11 (sixteen years ago)

my #3 iirc (dam-funk) - felt weird voting for the whole 2 & 1/2 hours of that thing but it's so glorious and layered and complex, really glad i came across it

vag gangsta (k3vin k.), Friday, 12 February 2010 20:12 (sixteen years ago)

er, i want to thank him for stepping into my life

vag gangsta (k3vin k.), Friday, 12 February 2010 20:12 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah this is a really good album.

I just wish he hadn't adopted the "ilxor" moniker (ilxor), Friday, 12 February 2010 20:14 (sixteen years ago)

ha, kev

also there is no such thing as too much dam-funk -- complaining about the length of it is really on some pedant technical shit, i think it's awesome that there's two hours of it

birdman mumia (J0rdan S.), Friday, 12 February 2010 20:16 (sixteen years ago)

"hey, too much sunshine! what is all this!?"

birdman mumia (J0rdan S.), Friday, 12 February 2010 20:16 (sixteen years ago)

streaming now and this is actually pretty cool.

call all destroyer, Friday, 12 February 2010 20:17 (sixteen years ago)

dam is the best for like... drinking beer outside in the warmth

birdman mumia (J0rdan S.), Friday, 12 February 2010 20:18 (sixteen years ago)

I just wish he hadn't adopted the "ilxor" moniker (ilxor), Friday, 12 February 2010 20:18 (sixteen years ago)

hey i wasn't complaining, i love it and wish there was more!

anyway what i love is how my favorite EP or whatever you want to call it changed all the time - i really fell in love with the proggier part 2 first, then got into the super wonky and angular part 1, then couldnt get enough of the early prince-ish part 3

vag gangsta (k3vin k.), Friday, 12 February 2010 20:19 (sixteen years ago)

I'd probably like the Dâm-Funk but the rest of the poll seems to be the year electrodribble hit big.

Pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 12 February 2010 20:20 (sixteen years ago)

yeah kev i wasn't referring to you

yeah the fact that he released it as EPs kinda deflates the "2.5 hours" argument bcuz it's not like you don't have places to start

birdman mumia (J0rdan S.), Friday, 12 February 2010 20:21 (sixteen years ago)

Electrodribble's revenge.

xpost

I just wish he hadn't adopted the "ilxor" moniker (ilxor), Friday, 12 February 2010 20:23 (sixteen years ago)

ElectrodribPOLL.

I just wish he hadn't adopted the "ilxor" moniker (ilxor), Friday, 12 February 2010 20:23 (sixteen years ago)

what constitutes "electrodribble"? anything with a keyboard?

birdman mumia (J0rdan S.), Friday, 12 February 2010 20:25 (sixteen years ago)

Tim's comments last year:

I think people are expanding this too much. "Indie-Friendly Electrodribble" seems to imply an element of tweeness and softness.

Postal Service and Max Tundra and The Avalanches yes, Blechdom no.

(Yes I can see how Blechdom/Tigerbeat 6 are arguably twee but it's of a different stripe I think)

Like, Peaches are the paradigmatic example for me of the electronic act people who feel uncomfortable with actual dance music still check for all the time (i hang out with too many gays/lesbians though, maybe this is why) - but I wouldn't describe her as "electrodribble".

Peaches is more like electrospittle.

More here: Indie-Friendly Electrodribble S/D

I just wish he hadn't adopted the "ilxor" moniker (ilxor), Friday, 12 February 2010 20:28 (sixteen years ago)

i don't think that describes anything on this list so far?

birdman mumia (J0rdan S.), Friday, 12 February 2010 20:28 (sixteen years ago)

i'm not exactly in a made up pejorative genre

birdman mumia (J0rdan S.), Friday, 12 February 2010 20:28 (sixteen years ago)

interested in*

birdman mumia (J0rdan S.), Friday, 12 February 2010 20:29 (sixteen years ago)

you were also right the first time

your extra awesome blossom (HI DERE), Friday, 12 February 2010 20:29 (sixteen years ago)

yeah, either way

birdman mumia (J0rdan S.), Friday, 12 February 2010 20:29 (sixteen years ago)

i thought electrodribble and indie friendly electrodribble split into different genres in january 2009 after the dribble wars

TS: electrodribble vs technospunk

your extra awesome blossom (HI DERE), Friday, 12 February 2010 20:31 (sixteen years ago)

which one did Billy Idol make an album of?

Pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 12 February 2010 20:31 (sixteen years ago)

neuromantica

guammls (QE II), Friday, 12 February 2010 20:48 (sixteen years ago)

expected toeachizown to place higher.. don't remember if i voted for it or not

guammls (QE II), Friday, 12 February 2010 20:52 (sixteen years ago)

that lily allen album is great

3:16 (jjjusten), Friday, 12 February 2010 20:53 (sixteen years ago)

the rest of the poll seems to be the year electrodribble hit big.

ugh i was honestly hoping no one would use that phrase in a serious way ever again. besides junior boys and royksopp (both are maybes) what could possibly constitute electrodribble on this list? i guess jj is almost the definition of electrodribble now that i think of it, but that's about it. such an amorphous, useless term

psychgawsple, Friday, 12 February 2010 21:08 (sixteen years ago)

might as well call the broadcast focus group electrodribble while we're at it lol

guammls (QE II), Friday, 12 February 2010 21:09 (sixteen years ago)

ppl be confused by the lack of ROCK MUZAK

call all destroyer, Friday, 12 February 2010 21:10 (sixteen years ago)

I think I've given up on Zombi & Oneohtrix Point Never placing :(
