If you can find that P&J stats page that was linked from the P&J thread, I think it showed the overlap between all the GAPDY ballots.

i get to the last 14 seconds of the JJ album and then i can't stands no more

really like the sound and production on the horrors album. not as crazy about the songs. pleasant to have on in the background, tho.

listening to the Grandfather Paradox mix for the first time in quite a while, man this is so good, wish i had voted it higher. there's nothing pedantic or "educational" about it, its just a really really great and varied assortment of tunes that are mixed together wonderfully. it doesn't strike me as dance floor stuff, very much daytime outside music imo.

I loved the Horrors album when it came out - I repped and repped for it in the face of people calling me a corny Hoxton indie fuxxor, but really it was Sea Within A Sea which was the diamond in the rough. The rest of the album was really just a shoegaze/Joy Division retread with (admittedly excellent) production from Geoff Barrow.

Or maybe that's a bit harsh. I think I was just elated that a British rock band could do something like this in 2009 without trying to go all electro or whatever. Sea Within A Sea remains a great track though - I'm surprised it didn't chart on the singles list.

that's a better placement than its silly top 5 finish in a lot of places. i like neko ok, nice voice, good singer, but she's never really mastered the whole melody thing afaic. i tend to enjoy her records all right while i'm listening, but i'm hard pressed to remember a tune afterward.

yeah that's well-put. i think she could stand to write shorter stuff that's a little more focused.
