I know a lot of people were down on this year's Junior Boys album, but I'm surprised Hazel didn't crack the top 50 trax (I don't see it coming up in the top 8, anyway).

Hazel is v good and so is its Ewan P remix. don't think Begone Dull Care was really a step down from So This Is Goodbye either.

Yeah, I like Begone Dull Care as well, but we seem to be a vocal minority.

lol yes i had this exact thought myself, but once out of a hip hop context they make it make sense narratively to me, i mean the song is all about being out with friends and feeling good about that so it's not coincidence that the "punchline" is reaching out to who filled your cup and to the whole world. like i wrote about one possible narrative above, which may be projecting or reaching, but i think probably hi dere is right and that the whole song has this subtext or tension where things could go wrong, but they don't, and i think people relate to that.

me too, but neither version of "she wolf" does much for me.

i kind of feel that the way people go on about "she wolf", it should be one of those irresistible pop songs that i crave to hear over and over again, on loop for an hour, but months on i'm still stuck in the "eh, don't mind this when it comes on" stage.

I voted for Begone Dull Care and both the songs nominated, whilst it might not be the same quality as the first two albums it was easily one of my favorites of the year.
