i'm so glad that the one vote i used on a deep album cut paid off. i mean in all honesty "fancy" is prob song of the year.

apparently on youtube it's really frustrating because it cuts off just after the huge chord change segueing into "right side of my brain" - so get the album, folks.

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Tuesday, 2 February 2010 00:05 (sixteen years ago)

as for the other two...i can hear why someone might like "1901" but not why anyone would get, like, really excited over it.

i'm really sick of BEPs as a group, none of their big hits this year were particularly special (though the others were at least ok), i really want another fergie solo album - that's where she and will.i.am had their best ideas. (i don't credit the other two w/having ideas.) i still have no idea why the "mazel tov" bit in this song is meant to be funny or entertaining.

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Tuesday, 2 February 2010 00:05 (sixteen years ago)

i guess i'm happier at "fancy" placing than i thought i'd be - if it means no "my girls" or something then hell yes, i'm head over heels in love with the song anyway

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Tuesday, 2 February 2010 00:09 (sixteen years ago)

had I ordered my tracks, per initial list, there would've been three #1 votes for Fancy. lol.

Alex in Montreal, Tuesday, 2 February 2010 00:10 (sixteen years ago)

yeah, when the drums come in at the end of Fancy it's FUCKING MASSIVE. by holding off on a beat for 90% of the song, the payoff when it finally drops is that much greater.

Alex in Montreal, Tuesday, 2 February 2010 00:10 (sixteen years ago)

Yikes--->BEP

Guess that makes any complaints about GAPDY or Taylor Swift moot though.

Parenthetical Grillz, Tuesday, 2 February 2010 00:11 (sixteen years ago)

BEP? ILM yr dead to me

The Tommy Westphall Universe Hypothesis (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 2 February 2010 00:11 (sixteen years ago)

fancy's always been the standout on that album from the first spin i think

plaxico (I know, right?), Tuesday, 2 February 2010 00:11 (sixteen years ago)

I'm still laughing at BEP placing so high.

Blimey, those drums at the end of "Fancy"...!

yes!

plaxico (I know, right?), Tuesday, 2 February 2010 00:15 (sixteen years ago)

1901 is great, and something I get really excited about.

Seriously, though, I Gotta Feeling????? Guys we need to talk about this.

Freddy 'The Wonder Chicken' (Gukbe), Tuesday, 2 February 2010 00:17 (sixteen years ago)

Was there a Facebook group about BEP or something?

dog latin, Tuesday, 2 February 2010 00:19 (sixteen years ago)

for me I Gotta Feeling is like a James Cameron movie - cheesy and dramatic and formulaic almost to a fault but when you are listening you can't help but enjoy it.

Also - David Guetta is amazing

musically, Tuesday, 2 February 2010 00:20 (sixteen years ago)

this is what the-dream said to me about making "fancy":

“It started out at three minutes, but I kept bringing it out to tweak it. It went to four minutes, then to five, then at the last minute I put in that last instalment. It was just a piano-driven record originally. We outsourced it to orchestra, and then I thought – this isn’t ghetto enough! So I started doing that lil’ rap thing at the end, and then I brought the beat on it...Just so I could destroy this perfect picture I had painted. Just because that’s what I do with everything. It’s like buying a new Benz and putting rims on it. Ain’t nothing wrong with the Benz, there’s no need for new rims, but I’m just like – put ‘em on there, put ‘em on there! Just cuz I can. Just – cuz – I - can.”

it also sounds to me like a retelling of the story in this song from a different perspective (it isn't, i asked him about this).

The Tommy Westphall Universe Hypothesis (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 2 February 2010 00:23 (sixteen years ago)

Guess I should've ranked my ballot. Would've pushed Quik & Kurupt ahead of BEP at the very least.

Parenthetical Grillz, Tuesday, 2 February 2010 00:23 (sixteen years ago)

"outsourcing" to an orchestra

Blue Fucks Like Ben Nelson (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 2 February 2010 00:24 (sixteen years ago)

yeah i inflated all these tokens to get them into the top fifty but i woulda been happier pushing fancy into the top ten

plaxico (I know, right?), Tuesday, 2 February 2010 00:24 (sixteen years ago)

Yup. And the songs I wanted to give the extra bump to would've ended up Top 50 anyway.

Parenthetical Grillz, Tuesday, 2 February 2010 00:27 (sixteen years ago)

There's only one song on this list that I actively dislike: "Lust For Life". Just don't get the appeal at all. Other than that: best 2009 list ever!

mike t-diva, Tuesday, 2 February 2010 00:27 (sixteen years ago)

I voted Right Side of My Brain, because Fancy-->Brain is fuxxing epic. Can't complain if Fancy was the one that made it.

Freddy 'The Wonder Chicken' (Gukbe), Tuesday, 2 February 2010 00:27 (sixteen years ago)

Just realised I don't think I voted for any of the songs in this list, so far at least.

dog latin, Tuesday, 2 February 2010 00:28 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah, for the most part I think this is a really good list. BEP at #12 is some troll shit, though.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 2 February 2010 00:28 (sixteen years ago)

xpost Maybe Hyph Mngo...

Susan Boyle for the top 10 then?

i assumed he was talking abt david guetta

plaxico (I know, right?), Tuesday, 2 February 2010 00:30 (sixteen years ago)

it's an amazing list - just a handful of trax i dislike or don't care about - soooo much better than any other i've seen. have to say i fear the top 10 though :/

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Tuesday, 2 February 2010 00:30 (sixteen years ago)

Not that it's that much of a problem, but this list is incredibly scant of rock music. I guess that does happen in tracks polls though.

dog latin, Tuesday, 2 February 2010 00:33 (sixteen years ago)

Future of the Left rocks so hard it makes up for about 10 positions.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 2 February 2010 00:34 (sixteen years ago)

i voted way more rock in my albums than trax

plaxico (I know, right?), Tuesday, 2 February 2010 00:34 (sixteen years ago)

hmm "fancy" made no.11 on the poptimists list as well, and BEP just below it. odd ILM/poptimist mindmeld - I guess we can expect Ra Ra Ah Ah Ah at no.1

Pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 2 February 2010 00:39 (sixteen years ago)

Fancy/Rockin That Shit being the 2 dream picks seem very odd to me. They are the two least memorable songs on the album.

Ok, in the process of writing that and many people posting before I could submit, I've put on Fancy and forgot how much I <3 it.
