i'm so glad that the one vote i used on a deep album cut paid off. i mean in all honesty "fancy" is prob song of the year.

apparently on youtube it's really frustrating because it cuts off just after the huge chord change segueing into "right side of my brain" - so get the album, folks.

as for the other two...i can hear why someone might like "1901" but not why anyone would get, like, really excited over it.

i'm really sick of BEPs as a group, none of their big hits this year were particularly special (though the others were at least ok), i really want another fergie solo album - that's where she and will.i.am had their best ideas. (i don't credit the other two w/having ideas.) i still have no idea why the "mazel tov" bit in this song is meant to be funny or entertaining.

yeah, when the drums come in at the end of Fancy it's FUCKING MASSIVE. by holding off on a beat for 90% of the song, the payoff when it finally drops is that much greater.

for me I Gotta Feeling is like a James Cameron movie - cheesy and dramatic and formulaic almost to a fault but when you are listening you can't help but enjoy it.

Also - David Guetta is amazing

this is what the-dream said to me about making "fancy":

“It started out at three minutes, but I kept bringing it out to tweak it. It went to four minutes, then to five, then at the last minute I put in that last instalment. It was just a piano-driven record originally. We outsourced it to orchestra, and then I thought – this isn’t ghetto enough! There's only one song on this list that I actively dislike: "Lust For Life". Just don't get the appeal at all. Other than that: best 2009 list ever!
