K3vin it's safe to come out from under the table now.

Pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 1 February 2010 19:37 (sixteen years ago)

there are a ton of trax showing up that i didn't vote for, off albums that i did vote for - i feel like this year's albums/trax crossover is going to be pretty large

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Monday, 1 February 2010 19:38 (sixteen years ago)

just like P&J?

I think I've come around to the "'Islands' is better than 'Crystallised'" argument, although my favorite song on the album might be "Intro".

PIES! PIES! PIES! PIES! PIES! (HI DERE), Monday, 1 February 2010 19:40 (sixteen years ago)

i think the xx album is a darkhorse for #1 album

big hoos state of mind (J0rdan S.), Monday, 1 February 2010 19:41 (sixteen years ago)

yeah i voted islands #4 but not crystallised

plaxico (I know, right?), Monday, 1 February 2010 19:41 (sixteen years ago)

actually maybe a tossup between "Intro" and "Shelter"

there is so much fucking fantastic songcraft going on on that album, it's pretty stunning

PIES! PIES! PIES! PIES! PIES! (HI DERE), Monday, 1 February 2010 19:42 (sixteen years ago)

xxp I'm calling it Fever Ray.

they ate only candy canes (Pillbox), Monday, 1 February 2010 19:42 (sixteen years ago)

It's certainly #1 for most boring and bland album. And I blame I Know Right for making me listen to it.

Pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 1 February 2010 19:42 (sixteen years ago)

its weird, iv only voted for 1 thing on this but i could have voted for anything here pretty much so seems like a pretty good year so far

plaxico (I know, right?), Monday, 1 February 2010 19:43 (sixteen years ago)

^ thats him

Pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 1 February 2010 19:43 (sixteen years ago)

haha the only song my gf likes from this is "intro." it's a position i'm sympathetic to tho i don't agree.

grooveshark thing is awesome

future of the left track is so rad

big hoos state of mind (J0rdan S.), Monday, 1 February 2010 19:45 (sixteen years ago)

for gods sake man this album is totally good, u just hav a narrowly defined aesthetic i think

plaxico (I know, right?), Monday, 1 February 2010 19:45 (sixteen years ago)

shocking revelation

big hoos state of mind (J0rdan S.), Monday, 1 February 2010 19:46 (sixteen years ago)

i made a decision abt a year ago that i liked all music and its working out pretty good so far btw

Nice one, disappointingly so much of the chart is unavailable on spotify. Can't be doing with the youtube links.

Bing Crosby, are you listening? (Billy Dods), Monday, 1 February 2010 19:47 (sixteen years ago)

the xx sound (and look) like some local unsigned myspace band. soooo do not get the appeal of this beyond the fact that they apparently listen to a lot of 80s bands that ilm likes.

Good looks on the Grooveshark thing. Man, why have I avoided that Royksopp/Robin track all year?

Ha, liking all music from yr bedroom is ONE thing (tho still ultimately doomed)

ogmor, Monday, 1 February 2010 20:11 (sixteen years ago)

stillness is the grooveshark; that thing is great!

forksclovetofu, Monday, 1 February 2010 20:13 (sixteen years ago)

Zero > Heads Will Roll

Like EZ Snappin says, HWR roll is basically one good riff repeating itself, but unfortunately it reminds me too much of that horrible Orgy's cover of Blue Monday. Zero works for me on a very primitive level... it feels like Karen O is ripping your clothes off!

musically, Monday, 1 February 2010 20:18 (sixteen years ago)

to me "pretty wings" doesn't really scream SINGLE in the context of the album (not sure any one song does), but happy to see something place

i actually like "bad habits" better

big hoos state of mind (J0rdan S.), Monday, 1 February 2010 20:29 (sixteen years ago)

another one I voted for! I think that makes 4 now

really, really want to hear all these myspace bands that sound like the xx btw, lol @ that

xp it totally does feel like a single to me, plus you know it WAS one and charted and everything

wtf lebron, that chick doesn't need a gatorade bath (k3vin k.), Monday, 1 February 2010 20:30 (sixteen years ago)

another one i didn't vote for, but voted for its parent album!

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Monday, 1 February 2010 20:37 (sixteen years ago)

xp yeah and i'm glad that it's gonna be the only one place because this poll doesn't need a Fever Ray repeat, i was just saying it doesn't feel like an especially obvious choice for a single

een, Monday, 1 February 2010 20:57 (sixteen years ago)

I would kind of lol if the top 6 were the remaining tracks on the Fever Ray album

PIES! PIES! PIES! PIES! PIES! (HI DERE), Monday, 1 February 2010 21:00 (sixteen years ago)

This had the highest average vote

top 20 lookin good so far, but it's due to get boring any second now

samosa gibreel, Monday, 1 February 2010 21:17 (sixteen years ago)

YAY FOTL!

i think i was one of the #1 votes for that as well.

(speaking of which/broken record, musically if i could get a copy of my ballot, that would be great - if youve sent it already a bunch of times i will search my junk mail)

i like it cause it's got a great floating quality and is great to listen to while biking, but in the context of dubstep i believe hyph mngo is a welcome step towards the effeminate and delicate in a genre that tends to be dominated by ugly bass riffs and the like.

samosa gibreel, Monday, 1 February 2010 21:23 (sixteen years ago)

is that the last one for today?

every time i'm like "why the hell do ppl like this song so much?" i listen to it & remember how dope it is

big hoos state of mind (J0rdan S.), Monday, 1 February 2010 21:25 (sixteen years ago)

btw everyone joy orbison the dude is fine as hell

big hoos state of mind (J0rdan S.), Monday, 1 February 2010 21:26 (sixteen years ago)

it's very invigorating as far as dub step goes -- that "oooooooh" is a blood rush

big hoos state of mind (J0rdan S.), Monday, 1 February 2010 21:26 (sixteen years ago)

(speaking of which/broken record, musically if i could get a copy of my ballot, that would be great - if youve sent it already a bunch of times i will search my junk mail)

Me too please. I sent you an email as you requested on the ballot discussion thread but if you replied I missed it. Thanks.

EZ Snappin, Monday, 1 February 2010 21:26 (sixteen years ago)

otm - plus this branch of dubstep (more feminine, melodic, more open to house/techno/r&b) really developed strongly this year (guido and darkstar elsehwre in the poll, plus a host of others), and joy orbison was definitely the critical poster boy of the genre.
