"Lust For Life" would be somewhere in the middle of a spectrum below "Real As It Gets" but above "Venus Vs. Mars" (xpost)

Had you not heard them before, Dan? They're Mclusky 2.0 (can't remember how many members made the move).

Johnny Fever, Monday, 1 February 2010 17:28 (fourteen years ago) link

Heard of them, never heard them; was really only tangentially aware of McClusky via Joel Veitch Rathergood.com.

struck through in my prime (HI DERE), Monday, 1 February 2010 17:29 (fourteen years ago) link

It sounds like My Chemical Romance meets Mclusky! Awesome!

The real video is awesome.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 1 February 2010 17:34 (fourteen years ago) link

I love the line "caught in the switch of the flow," on that FotL song. So great, especially with that full-throttle delivery. The climax of that song has so much more drama, for want of a better word, than it has any right to. Shit just sounds huge and important. Fucking brilliant.

Haha at Empire State of Mind (my #1 in case you didn't guess). I was expecting a pasting for it too, thanks for holding back.

i coulda sworn that was 2008 tho too

plaxico (I know, right?), Monday, 1 February 2010 17:55 (fourteen years ago) link

They're Mclusky 2.0 (can't remember how many members made the move).

If I recall, the guitarist/vocalist and the drummer made the move; the bassist split off into another band.

plaxico (I know, right?), Monday, 1 February 2010 17:56 (fourteen years ago) link

I was expecting a pasting for it too, thanks for holding back.

it sort of arrived pre-pasted.

and as someone who kinda dug mcclusky and then forgot about them, i'm now intrigued by fotl. that song rocks pretty well.

hellzapoppa (tipsy mothra), Monday, 1 February 2010 17:57 (fourteen years ago) link

by the way The Dynasty album is the second best Jay album, so you list makers are tripping.

that's an agreeable spot for 'empire state of mind' -- 'american gangster' is NOT GOOD AT ALL - can't believe actual critics fell for that junk - it's pretty good sonically but jay never stopped falling off as a rapper after 'kingdom come'

big hoos state of mind (J0rdan S.), Monday, 1 February 2010 18:12 (fourteen years ago) link

So is the rest of this FotL album as good as this?

Moreno, Monday, 1 February 2010 18:14 (fourteen years ago) link

not as immediate/anthemic as that but it's a fantastic record

wonder if "heads will roll" is gonna show up - don't dislike "zero" at all but compared to HWR it's kinda negligible to me

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Monday, 1 February 2010 18:26 (fourteen years ago) link

i like "heads will roll" a lot better, but i can't really quibble with that

big hoos state of mind (J0rdan S.), Monday, 1 February 2010 18:26 (fourteen years ago) link

i agree w/ that last sentiment

big hoos state of mind (J0rdan S.), Monday, 1 February 2010 18:27 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah, i love 'zero' but am hoping that ILX bucks the trend and shows HWR as the superior single. no way it didn't place if 'hysteric' made it.
