They play Gucci Mane on the radio?

I was kind of shocked because they played a Gucci Mane track on Boston radio the other day! I was all "wait, waht" right up until my wife changed the channel because she hated it.

"wasted" was a huge rap/r&b radio hit

yeah i accept that (selling it short) but you did use anthemic and wide-appeal sloganeering as why you think it might be a better pick than lemonade so i was probably coming from there more than a little bit

"Wasted" is fun but it ain't no "Back That Azz Up" or "Ante Up", that's for sure

one of my favorite aggro raps of the year was "O Let's Do It" which was a minor hit despite not having the veneer of inclusive fun Wasted has, with that darkly insistent hook it slays me

I started chanting "O Let's Do It" when I was drunk wasted at a party the other night and no one had any idea what I was on about. :(

"Wasted" being a huge r&b/rap radio hit seems very geographically dependent. As I've said before, neither of the rap/r&b stations in the cities I've lived in while it was a hit picked up on it.

maybe you were chanting it wrong (i.e. pronouncing the consonants) and they didn't recognize it (xpost)

through the first third of the year it was pretty much no 1 - i voted trax unranked though

as for "wasted" it's not a gucci song i ever really think about, i don't get to experience it on the radio and it's weird that plies is the main attraction. i guess it's pretty fun though.

I agree it's a really good list up to this point. re: Washed Out -- he seems to be the lead dog in this whole subgenre, and it's not by chance. He does more with the same components than people like Neon Indian or Toro y Moi or Ducktails or whoever else. I hope when he finally make a proper album, he still writes the same way but increases the fidelity a little bit.

It was actually two separate EP's, wasn't it? iirc the EP this was on, "Life Of Leisure" was the better of the two.

it was a specific thing, there was a thread where people were talking about his real name, suddenly realised i had no idea and had to wikipedia it. that thread also taught me that this one old pj harvey song is actually a dylan cover :(

dylan's real 2009 album was sort of meh. but the christmas album is a classic of some kind or other.

(by pj harvey you mean "highway 61"? yes. that is a bob dylan song.)

'Feel It All Around' is only the 4th or 5th best track on the Life Of Leisure EP btw
