The person who is pretending to be Bilinda Jayne Butcher isn't her, nor are any of the other Bilinda Butchers online. Bilinda isn't a member of any social networking sites. The one that was floating around last year is hilarious. The two "versions" are indistinguishable.

I wonder if there is a psychiatric term for this kind of neverending procrastination? Because it seems like the actual remastering process was done and dusted many, many months (if not years) ago, so the *only* thing now holding this up is the sleevenotes? It's like Kev keeps missing the deadline for his essay and is giving his indulgent tutor more and more excuses (except no excuses are actually being given, other than the eternal "getting it right" nonsense).
And all this for fucking REMASTERS! God forbid they should actually attempt to release some new material in the next decade. Maybe they are all rich enough (which I doubt), but surely Colm, Deb and Bilinda would not mind seeing a little £££ from these things actually going on sale?
I've gone all the way from excitement, to amusement, to dismissal, back to amusement and now pissed offness over this. What a shambles.

It's still nothing compared to the gap between the Kraftwerk remasters box set promos and the eventual release.

I wonder how much Deb makes from sales of Loveless.

Yeah, I imagine the remasters you received are somewhat quieter?
― Bill A, Tuesday, 2 March 2010 20:41 (fourteen years ago) link
loud enough for me to hear 'em

If you play the original vinyl, the original CD and both remastered CDs simultaneously, Zaireeka fashion, sample the resultant signal, and then run the .wav through a decrypter you get an ascii file which depicts Kev pulling a goatse 4 tha fanz.

What's yr source, Mark? Amazon UK is holding steady for 23 August: the day when we can forget all this unpleasantness and carry on with our lives.

Each date has come from HMV uk, historically.
― Mark G, Wednesday, 24 March 2010 14:04 (fourteen years ago) link
Still, I'm slightly encouraged by reports of 'Loveless' recently going out of print in the UK.
― AnotherDeadHero, Wednesday, 24 March 2010 15:38 (fourteen years ago) link
Oh yeah, I downloaded a FLAC from a torrent site claiming to be the remastered 'Loveless' and either the remastering is particularly subtle or its a load of bollocks.

> I assume it'll come with the EPs that preceded it?
no, is just the lp, twice.
demo cds were sent out to journos in summer 08. so the music's all done, it's everything else that's holding it up. that's the annoying thing.
― koogs, Wednesday, 24 March 2010 22:00 (fourteen years ago) link
Can't tell if you're being serious, is it really the album twice? Different formats?

Yep, once remastered off the stereo DAT masters, once remastered off the analogue tapes. I think that's right. It's been a while...
― Michael Jones, Wednesday, 24 March 2010 22:08 (fourteen years ago) link
Okay, thanks for clearing that up. Of course I'm doubtful that, even if it is released in the UK, it'll ever show up here in the States as anything but an expensive import.

This reminds me of the adage about the man with one watch knows what time it is while the man with two watches is never sure. Why don't they just do one definitive version?
― everything, Wednesday, 24 March 2010 22:22 (fourteen years ago) link
> what is this "everything else"?
the usual crap that makes a released cd different from a demo cd - artwork, sleevenotes(?) etc. the ones i saw (and that mike ended up with) were just stamped cds (ie not cdrs and iirc were properly printed on the label side, albeit only with text, no colours or pictures) in a transparent plastic wallet.
― koogs, Wednesday, 24 March 2010 22:28 (fourteen years ago) link
so the demo CDs haven't actually leaked? was under the impression that the so-called Loveless remasters floating around last year were fakes ...
― tylerw, Wednesday, 24 March 2010 22:31 (fourteen years ago) link
dunno, i've not actually heard them (and don't go hunting for leaks). i didn't ask mike for a copy at the time figuring that they'd be available for sale the following month... (and, tbh, i can wait)

Shields did just come out of re-mastering Screamadelica. I'm sure somebody out there took notice and plopped Loveless down right next to him whilst at the control panel, with a hint-hint-nudge-nude "hey, while you're at it".
