Daft Punk - Human After All

Humans After All was a hoax after all! Of course Daft Punk would never release such a repetitive, loopy mess of an album. I've got a friend in the Toshiba-EMI Yogaku-bu (Western music division) who filled me in on the secret and slipped me the real DP release due to hit stores next month: Robots After All. Here is the single "Rrobot Rrock" (mp3) - a vast improvement over the original hoax version.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Saturday, 9 April 2005 16:01 (twenty-one years ago)

why did they send six copies of the "hoax" album to my radio station this week?

miccio (miccio), Saturday, 9 April 2005 16:16 (twenty-one years ago)

hahaha

xpost

fe zaffe (fezaffe), Saturday, 9 April 2005 16:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Plus-Tech Whiz Kid (Disco) (Barima), Saturday, 9 April 2005 19:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, quite the improvement.

According to BoingBoing, there's a video for "Technologic" now. Here's the torrent:

Haven't finished dl'ing it yet, but the still is fucking creepy.

...okay, just watched it and AAAAAGH HOLY FUCK GET IT AWAY FROM ME.

Telephonething, Sunday, 10 April 2005 17:28 (twenty-one years ago)

one month passes...
i cant help but listen to "technologic" without thinking it was purposely made to soundtrack tomorrow's electronics and it commercials
-- mark p, January 25th, 2005 12:14 AM.

SO IT IS DONE. The new ipod commercial uses "Technologic".

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Sunday, 15 May 2005 03:08 (twenty-one years ago)

*cries*

The Brainwasher (Twilight), Sunday, 15 May 2005 03:13 (twenty-one years ago)

where can I see this ad?

The Brainwasher (Twilight), Sunday, 15 May 2005 03:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Just played during SNL.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Sunday, 15 May 2005 03:16 (twenty-one years ago)

This was destiny! I've always though DP deliberately tailor-made the song to appeal to to the Apple/ipod/burning/ripping/downloading culture.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Sunday, 15 May 2005 03:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Genius.

Naive Teen Idol (Naive Teen Idol), Sunday, 15 May 2005 03:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Is the commercial anything like the "Technologic" video? now THAT would be genius.

donut debonair (donut), Sunday, 15 May 2005 03:57 (twenty-one years ago)

This is quite similar to the Shins song used in the Mcdonalds commercial in regards to content of the song and the use of it.

jmeister (jmeister), Sunday, 15 May 2005 07:11 (twenty-one years ago)

three months pass...
mmm mmm mmm mmm mmm mmmmmm we are human mmm mmm mmm mmm mmm mmmmm after all...

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 15 August 2005 23:01 (twenty years ago)

I never listen to this now!

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 00:04 (twenty years ago)

I've been listening to "Release the Beast" a lot on the Freeform Five mix.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 00:07 (twenty years ago)

Both of those Breakwater albums are pretty good.. the first album (the one that doesn't have "Release The Beast") is actually better.. especially "Do It Till The Fluid Gets Hot". Admittedly, I have to thank Daft Punk for turning me on to this group.

(As for HAA, I've lost my initial disenchantment for it... it's still Daft Punk saying "ah fuck it" still, but I don't dislike the album any more.)

donut ferry (donut), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 00:13 (twenty years ago)

:-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 00:16 (twenty years ago)

i haven't listened to this in months!! completely exited my brain.

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 00:24 (twenty years ago)

I think buying it on vinyl helped (which was released almost a month after the CD was.) I wouldn't have blinked an eye buying a somewhat decent hard techno-housey album by any other artist, always expecting half filler, but I had my expectations raised for this one, because.. well... it was the same guys who did Discovery, ya know?

Aside from the Basement Jaxx remix of "Technlogic", the singles from this have been pretty disappointing.

donut ferry (donut), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 00:25 (twenty years ago)

still listening to it and loving it.

stevo (stevo), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 02:06 (twenty years ago)

i admire the way the emperor machine takes everything thats bad about the original and makes it even worse

unconscious, honey (FE7), Tuesday, 25 October 2005 05:30 (twenty years ago)

HEY GUYS, REMEMBER THIS ALBUM? LOLOLOLOL.

The Brainwasher (Twilight), Saturday, 29 October 2005 01:55 (twenty years ago)

I still like this.

deej.. (deej..), Saturday, 29 October 2005 02:45 (twenty years ago)

me too, but I never listen to it.

Remember when nobody thought it was REAL, though? Pretty shameful!

F.R.I.E.N.D. (nordicskilla), Saturday, 29 October 2005 02:47 (twenty years ago)

Not that they won't be good, but that is a rather predictable bunch of remixers.

F.R.I.E.N.D. (nordicskilla), Saturday, 29 October 2005 02:47 (twenty years ago)

i still think it's godawful

s1ocki (slutsky), Saturday, 29 October 2005 02:57 (twenty years ago)

I remember the day it came out excitedly rushing to Amoeba to hear it. They happened to be playing it on the store's stereo. I wandered the aisles as it played and it quickly ruled itself out as a purchase. I've heard it here and there since then and...ugh...no.

gear (gear), Saturday, 29 October 2005 03:00 (twenty years ago)

The Sebastian remix is really awesome

The Brainwasher (Twilight), Saturday, 29 October 2005 03:09 (twenty years ago)

And the Justice mix, too. I'm still undecided on the Emperor Machine, though I'm glad they chose this as a single over, say, "Steam Machine."

telephone thing, Saturday, 29 October 2005 03:24 (twenty years ago)

this album is wonderful

three months pass...
Japan-only remix compilation coming out soon. Definitely not worth paying ludicrous import prices for (unless you are hell-bent on owning Thomas and GuyMan Kubricks) but there are two new tracks that may be worth Soulseeking after the release: a Playgroup remix of "Steam Machine" and Para One of "Prime Time Of Your Life."

telephone thing, Thursday, 23 February 2006 00:41 (twenty years ago)

...and another release coming soon, a best-of on Virgin entitled Musique 1993-2005. One CD of singles, one DVD of videos. Kind of a weak package, actually, since the best videos are already available elsewhere (on the Gondry DVD or as part of Interstella 5555), and the only rarity is a live take on "Rollin' and Scratchin'" that I'm willing to bet is taken straight from Alive 1997.

telephone thing, Tuesday, 28 February 2006 19:59 (twenty years ago)

I'm liking this now.
