anyway, this week's avid splurge (which was mooted for Ulver's 60's psych covers album - that can wait though) concerns Micachu's second album, which is better than the first one, and boasts an array of wonderful little songs (well, Easy, Waste Sick, OK, Holiday (especially Holiday) and Nothing are all prime LJnip) as well as a thematic and musical coherence that hasn't been so much in evidence

The Tirzah EP is my favorite 10 or so minutes of music this year. a little more direct and pop-focused than some of the Micachu stuff with vocals that are more approachable. still plenty weird. here are some links so you can check it out.

ilx has form when it comes to trashing any sort of genuine art-pop

I don't know how often I screamed this or if it was often enough but the Micachu mixtape from only two months ago is prettttty much the best thing in the world.

It is called "Feeling romantic, feeling tropical, feeling ill" iirc it is 53 minutes long and never stops serving aces

i really loved her under the skin score! would never have guessed. her early work itt is still pestilential

i wanted to hear that tape, couldn't find a legit digital version anywhere though.

loved Shades, but only just listening to the this for the first time.

weird band! sort of a 'rock' band? or perhaps band is all we can say, but making it sound creative and new in a very refreshing way that others do not. makes me think of Wire in the approach if not necessarily the sound.

looking forward to seeing them in April
