To me, the thing about Gibbs is he's a good rapper being really into him is like being really into Black Thought. He's a totally competent but rarely novel rapper who has nothing to recommend over his peers.

8ball and MJG no longer need to write lyrics. At this point, they could just make up words and take advantage of the fact that their voices are becoming even more gravelly, burdened by the weight of their mostly overlooked rap career. (Bad Boy signing notwithstanding—that just seemed like Diddy was using his wealth to help his rap heroes and we commend him for it.)

also i love how much gravitas jacka has when his verse finally enters on that track -- part of what bothered me about jacka doing tracks w/ like freeway is that i feel like it sorta shatters the illusion that these guys dont need the rest of rap cuz they have their own heroes
