I like how Stiller's Melrose Heights dual role was like some sort of proto-Zoolander.

I'm not gonna read this thread, spent way too much time on the last one with this title (and reviewed the record in the Voice last week) but I'm sorry, "He pulled a goddamn Sea Change" is utter horseshit.

chuck, Monday, 15 December 2003 16:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh what the fuck:

chuck, Monday, 15 December 2003 16:13 (twenty-two years ago)

And just for kicks, and old long one:

http://www.villagevoice.com/issues/0027/eddy.php

Anyway, the new album is only Sea Change if Atlanta Rhythm Section and Blackfoot are not distinguishable from Nick Drake. Which they are.

And again: His ballads >>>>>>>> Black Crowes's ballads. No contest.

chuck, Monday, 15 December 2003 16:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I am feelin' this thread, so I have to give it three snaps in Z formation...

Dan I. (Dan I.), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 02:30 (twenty-two years ago)

four years pass...

I was at a bar last night and they were simply BLASTING Devil Without A Cause.

And I have to say it was better than hearing another round of Sirius-satellite-radio-approved college rock jukebox picks from late-20-something Juno-watching blog-reading New York shit-for-brains playing "The Killing Moon" and "My Name Is Jonas" and "Debaser" for the seven gablillionth time.

Whiney G. Weingarten, Wednesday, 9 April 2008 00:58 (eighteen years ago)

the recent single where he bellows "amen" w/chorus is god-awful

m coleman, Wednesday, 9 April 2008 01:25 (eighteen years ago)

Devil Without A Cause is fully defensible.

rogermexico., Wednesday, 9 April 2008 04:19 (eighteen years ago)

haha - i remember an interview with angus circa 2 live crew trial where he decryed their music as 'crass' and the interviewer was all 'um, what about 'giving the dog a bone'?' and angus went all 'it's a metaphor innit' and how his mom thought it was actually about giving the dog a bone.

this is still an amazing WTF moment, FWIW.

iTunes shaken to the core!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7459796.stm

US music star Kid Rock is refusing to put his albums on iTunes because he says artists do not get paid enough for downloads from the Apple store.

Kid Rock is one of the last few acts not fully signed up to the service.

He said it was based on "an old system, where iTunes takes the money, the record company takes the money, and they don't give it to the artists".

Neil S, Wednesday, 18 June 2008 12:14 (seventeen years ago)

More like Kid Cock, amirite?

Neil S, Wednesday, 18 June 2008 12:16 (seventeen years ago)

i guess i couldn't be on EVERY 2 Live Crew thread back then...

PappaWheelie V, Wednesday, 18 June 2008 16:40 (seventeen years ago)

he's right about itunes...it's the worst of both worlds for artists.

YES
The thing is even Kid Rock doesn't believe in Kid Rock anymore.

VeronaInTheClub, Thursday, 19 June 2008 02:40 (seventeen years ago)

the worst thing about Kid Rock is that what little charm his records used to have is gone now. he doesn't even rap on any of the 3 singles off of his current album, and I sure as hell don't wanna hear that guy sing.

some dude, Thursday, 19 June 2008 02:43 (seventeen years ago)

He kinda raps -- because he's a shitty singer -- on that new tune where he drives around in his speedboat karaoking to a band playing a combination of "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Werewolves of London" badly.

Gorge, Thursday, 19 June 2008 03:52 (seventeen years ago)

Plus he's doing everything he possibly can to make bottom-out-of-sight sportsware store warm-up suits and fedora combos fashionable.

For all of it's ubiquity 10 years ago, I had no idea that Kid Rock song was called "Bawitdaba".

I still don't even know what that means!

henry s, Saturday, 11 June 2011 13:55 (fourteen years ago)

My favorite Kid Rock story is that he was thrown out of a Waffle House in Atlanta a few years ago. Really sums him up.

I wonder what happened, if he was an asshole to the waitress or something. Also, i wish i had been there so i could have tripped him on his way out.

Looks pretty easy to pick a fight when you have 5 hired bodyguards.

Telephoneface (Adam Bruneau), Saturday, 11 June 2011 19:24 (fourteen years ago)

as long as i don't have to look at him or listen to his music then i guess i'm pretty okay with him

dell (del), Saturday, 11 June 2011 19:32 (fourteen years ago)

two years pass...

You gotta admit, this guy is pretty ballsy, ramming his van through Kid Rock's gate and attempting to break into his house, alone, in broad daylight, ON CRUTCHES. Talk about an American Bad-Ass!*

* not an endorsement of criminal activity. Stay in school.
