Joe Petagno's Imagination Station! (Mackro Mackro), Tuesday, 21 October 2008 20:00 (seventeen years ago)

I just noticed that if you go back to the original Pfork link above, they've put a correction in it now that states Murphy isn't even a member of the band, he's just producing and mixing the record! So I guess that settles that.

Bimble, Tuesday, 21 October 2008 21:17 (seventeen years ago)

lol, so ridic.

hockey night just sounds like pavement. i guess that's classic rock nowadays?

jaxon, Tuesday, 21 October 2008 23:41 (seventeen years ago)

four weeks pass...

We were thinking of doing something where we find a lot of the old disco singers in New York that might still be around from the 70s, and get them in as guest vocalists with LCD as a backing band, and tour around as a disco heroes style show.
that's more like it

fela cooties (haitch), Wednesday, 19 November 2008 02:00 (seventeen years ago)

afrofuturist philosopher (The Reverend), Wednesday, 19 November 2008 07:56 (seventeen years ago)

that "hey, your love away from me. shame on me. you can't hide" part? do you think he just changed the pitch of his voice?

jaxon, Wednesday, 19 November 2008 08:16 (seventeen years ago)

that's what i always assumed?

t_g, Wednesday, 19 November 2008 08:51 (seventeen years ago)

While we're here...

Here's a thread for (re)mixes of LCD Soundsystem

Does anyone know when the 45:33 remixes are coming out? And what they are going to be?

Jamie T Smith, Wednesday, 19 November 2008 09:53 (seventeen years ago)

the prins thomas one (of part 3) has been around since last year; it was on his RA podcast. no idea when any of it's due out, though.

lola would be good!

"LCD Soundsystem is James Murphy

funny i made this point on the Sound of Silver threrad and got called out for it

BIG HOOS enjoys a cold mindbeer (BIG HOOS aka the steendriver), Thursday, 20 November 2008 10:01 (seventeen years ago)

you were more right than whoever did the calling-out. tight live band, but creatively not a 'band' and never have been.

fela cooties (haitch), Thursday, 20 November 2008 12:04 (seventeen years ago)

Hot Chip bro has lotsa splainin to do to the Murphia

oscar, Friday, 19 March 2010 22:38 (sixteen years ago)

'photographs', 'people' and 'please don't follow me' are great

ehhh i mean dude has spent most of his limelight time talking about how much he appreciates it, how it feels like a second act and that he wanted to bow out when he was at a peak, so it doesn't surprise me and doesn't seem as disingenuous as hov's mic drop. and i hardly read this announcement as "i am retiring" w/ or w/o a wink, just "this will be the last lcd record" which is a much diff thing imo

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Saturday, 20 March 2010 05:29 (sixteen years ago)

he's also said he has to tell himself that every time to make sure he puts in the best effort he can, like Robert Smith announcing every Cure record for fifteen years would be the last

parm goin' ham (sic), Saturday, 20 March 2010 09:30 (sixteen years ago)

James Murphy sounds exactly like Kermit The Frog on the opening track of the new album. Fact.

Doran, Sunday, 21 March 2010 12:26 (sixteen years ago)

he didn't on "New York I Love You"?

grady "cougar" mellencamp (The Reverend), Sunday, 21 March 2010 13:36 (sixteen years ago)

I thought he sounded more like Bernard Manning on that.

Doran, Sunday, 21 March 2010 13:58 (sixteen years ago)

As Jaxon states above, the Timmy Thomas-channeling "People" is great.

Been loving the clip-clop/turn-indicator mumbly/choral Carol Kaye/Beach Boys thing on "Plenty Of Time", too.

Don't Make Me A Burrito (Craig D.), Monday, 22 March 2010 20:50 (sixteen years ago)
