ORDER PLACED APRIL 26 CAN'T ARRIVE SOON ENOUGH

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 1 April 2005 13:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I am shaking my finger sternly at the calendar and shouting "HURRY UP I WANT MY FUCKING POSTER".

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 1 April 2005 13:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Hah. I want a photo of you in front of the poster with your eyes bugging out Urkel-style. Or something.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 1 April 2005 14:37 (twenty-one years ago)

**Too many home demos. Why does anyone want to hear home demos?
Because you end up with things like that dirgey "10:15 Saturday Night".

April has never been further away.

-- The Ghost of Dan Perry (djperr...), January 27th, 2005.**

I finally listened to this properly, and you absolutely right, Dan - the 10:15 Sat Night demo is absolutely fantastic. Whyowhyowhy didn't they use keyboards and this tempo on the released version?

Dr. C (Dr. C), Thursday, 7 April 2005 13:34 (twenty-one years ago)

:-) And thus happiness is at last had.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 7 April 2005 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

(xpost) I have no idea! I mean, I really like the version that they released but WOW THAT DEMO VERSION!!!!!!!!

It's kind of like how "Two People" >>>>>>> "In Your House", even though I really like "In Your House".

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 7 April 2005 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

"Two People"? Tell me more.

I've been arguing a similar case regarding the demo version of "The Big Hand", which just blows away the studio one.

Baaderonixxxorzh (Fabfunk), Thursday, 7 April 2005 14:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I just listened to it again - it *is* fuckin' great. A slight problem though : I can't help mentally superimposing Lol's drunken semi-rolls in the places where they come on the 'real' version.

Another great track on the 3IB reissue is Play With Me.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Thursday, 7 April 2005 14:06 (twenty-one years ago)

"Two People" is the original version of "In Your House"; there's a live version of it on the Curiosity side of the Concert cassette which is, well, godly. It's the same music but substantially different lyrics, kind of like "Desperate Journalist"/"Grinding Halt" only with all punchability removed.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 7 April 2005 14:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I keep forgetting that I don't like The Cure much. But I do think they sound much more *alive* in these early small-scale tracks, rather than the bluster of late 80s onwards.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Thursday, 7 April 2005 14:09 (twenty-one years ago)

AH yes, that's what I thought. Didn't know it was titled "Two People", though.

Baaderonixxxorzh (Fabfunk), Thursday, 7 April 2005 14:18 (twenty-one years ago)

You can now hear clips of all three new remasters on the Rhino website.

Baaderonixxxorzh (Fabfunk), Thursday, 7 April 2005 14:25 (twenty-one years ago)

!!!!!!!!!!!

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 7 April 2005 14:26 (twenty-one years ago)

OH MY GOD OH MY GOD WHY CAN'T IT BE THE 26TH NOW

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 7 April 2005 14:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Hearing even clips early would ruin the anticipation. I will await the day.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 7 April 2005 14:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Wise words Ned. I shall do the same. Although, if Dan has succumbed to temptation, I urge him to share his impressions.

Baaderonixxxorzh (Fabfunk), Thursday, 7 April 2005 14:45 (twenty-one years ago)

My impression: Pornography really is the greatest thing they've ever done.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 7 April 2005 14:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah come on, wait until you hear those "Strange Attraction" home demos...

Baaderonixxxorzh (Fabfunk), Thursday, 7 April 2005 14:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually he's waiting on the "Mint Car" a capella home demos.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 7 April 2005 14:52 (twenty-one years ago)

ow my brane

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 7 April 2005 14:58 (twenty-one years ago)

ATTENTION all kindred spirits - AWWW-YEAAAAH:

From the Steve Severin Forum (April 14th 2005) :

"Biggest and best news of the week is that after many, many years I have started talking to Robert Smith about the GLOVE re-mastering. We had a
lovely, long catch-up chat on the phone on Saturday and I'm overjoyed to say that Robert is going to be totally involved in getting the best possible release together. I have suggested that BLUE SUNSHINE falls into the CURE's timeline of reissues as opposed to the BANSHEES and Robert is really happy about that plan. In plain terms as FAITH/17 SECONDS/PORNOGRAPHY are due out at the end of this month - BLUE SUNSHINE
is next!!!!! In the Banshees timeline it would be probably a year away so I'm very excited that we will have the album out in the next 6 months. Robert is currently ploughing through his tapes and between us we think we have enough interesting stuff to make BLUE SUNSHINE a double disc deluxe edition. Universal are up for it too.

We plan to meet up soon over a flagon of cider and go through everything including all the bits of memorabilia that I have kept that will be nice to incorporate into the new artwork. It's going to be a blast! Can't wait......"

Baaderonixxxorzh (Fabfunk), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 07:38 (twenty-one years ago)

yay!

rentboy (rentboy), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 10:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Excellent. I've carefully held onto my Rough Trade reissue from 1990 and a double disc version would be the bee's knees.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 11:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah I also have the Rough Trade version. Is it still in print?

Baaderonixxxorzh (Fabfunk), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 12:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Dunno, but I've got the Rough Trade version still too.
Have a vinyl copy of the original too that I tracked down in my headlong curefan days of 1987

rentboy (rentboy), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 12:17 (twenty-one years ago)

What a classic album, 'Mr Alphabet Man', 'Perfect Murder'... They used to play those at the goth club in my teenage years...

Baaderonixxxorzh (Fabfunk), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 12:24 (twenty-one years ago)

OH my GOD

The Ghost of Total Fucking Swoon (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 13:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I was wondering when the Pope would give this news his blessing.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 13:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Out tomorrow! I'm verrry excited!

mzui (mzui), Sunday, 24 April 2005 10:09 (twenty-one years ago)

SO FUCKING HAPPY GIVE ME MY POSTER

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Sunday, 24 April 2005 11:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, they're out Tuesday here in the States...sadly, I won't be able to acquire any of them for another three weeks due to being poor.

Ian Riese-Moraine has a grenade, that pineapple's not just a toy! (Eastern Mantr, Sunday, 24 April 2005 13:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Err... Apparently they've been pushed back to the 5th of May...

Baaderonixxxorzh (Fabfunk), Sunday, 24 April 2005 14:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I SLAY YOU IF THIS IS TRUE (cause I always blame the messenger).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 24 April 2005 14:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 24 April 2005 16:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey Ned, you never mailed me back.

mzui (mzui), Sunday, 24 April 2005 16:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Hm! I apologize if I did not do that, I dimly remember an exchange about something. E-mail me again.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 24 April 2005 16:36 (twenty-one years ago)

TOMORROW TOMORROW I LOVE YA TOMORROW...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 00:01 (twenty-one years ago)

are the versions of forever and all mine on these discs the same as the ones which are on the curiosity cassette? if they are, i am not sure that cd would improve the quality so much - being that those recordings seem to be so crappy. i like those songs a lot though. maybe they did some studio magic to them ?

ronny longjohns (ronny longjohns), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 00:38 (twenty-one years ago)

We'll find out soon enough...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 00:39 (twenty-one years ago)

"All Mine" is from 'Curiosity.' "Forever" is previously unreleased, "live somewhere/summer 81."

Rickey Wright (Rrrickey), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 00:47 (twenty-one years ago)

i see. Curiosity version says paris 84. guess someone can report tomorrow

ronny longjohns (ronny longjohns), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 03:17 (twenty-one years ago)

ok, seems these babies are out in Europe after all. In a mere couple of hours, I shall be basking in the glow of them Carnage Visors!

Baaderonixxxorzh (Fabfunk), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 13:40 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm thinking about buying "faith" as it is my favourite cure album

Aerodynamic (Aerodynamic), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 14:30 (twenty-one years ago)

As well you should.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 14:31 (twenty-one years ago)

i think i'll first get Porn and Faith and wait a bit for 17S (the extras don't seem as crucial)

Baaderonixxxorzh (Fabfunk), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 14:52 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost

No, it actually says "somewhere."

Rickey Wright (Rrrickey), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 14:58 (twenty-one years ago)

this is great news. i was so in love with the glove man.

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 15:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I am getting all three. I CARE NOT.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 15:01 (twenty-one years ago)
