gucci puts the brrr in chillwave

"Nothing on this track really pops lyrically, but it's a good example of how people like Gucci and Wayne just manage to fill a track with personality. It makes you wonder if Gucci could make a track work just by repeating his name for 4 minutes."

haha jesus yr a dork -- im not a self-hating dude like you, just earlier this week we were talking about how the hipster-embrace of dude has barely yet begun. I know salem remixed dude, we've talked about that before. Shit barely made a ripple. Its gonna happen, esp when the diplo tape comes out.

unicorn strapped with a unabomb (deej), Tuesday, 15 December 2009 06:03 (sixteen years ago)

& what do you know, the only mention of gucci on 'gorilla vs bear' (really gross-looking site btw) is of the diplo remix

gvsb called "shine blockas" "the rap jam of the year" and really used the word "jam" iirc

don't you live in iowa or some shit? i think i'm closer to the center of hipsterdom than u, dogg, self-loathing or no.

ha @ this casey dude in the cb thread

i really marvel at the lack of self-awareness of the cbrapp comment flies. (and yes i fully realize the irony of this statement re: surfboard dudes). i know it draws a ton of really really lame wanna-bloggers who basically just do not have interesting/refined opinions and/or anything important to say but do anyway to try to put themselves on and become part of the rap blog conversation. but even beyond those dudes (of which there are like almost a dozen that spring to mind instantly)...where the fuck are these people coming from? when did it stop being a nice place to find crazy rare tracks and start being a place for cornballs to rehash the same stupid crap that's been on message boards for years. soon there's gonna be an Illmatic vs Reasonable Doubt debate in there

LilDeejTheTasteGod (surfboard dudes get wiped out, totally), Thursday, 17 December 2009 04:59 (sixteen years ago)

He also discusses part 2 of The State vs. Radric Davis series, called “The Appeal” dropping in April 2010. He says that he finished recording it and that it’s getting mixed and mastered. When he gets out he plans on recording part 3, “The Final Verdict,” and dropping it in December of next year.

Jacques_Lamure, Thursday, 17 December 2009 16:52 (sixteen years ago)

surf, if comments boxes reflected the quality of the site they're on no blog would be any good. they're secondary material, there's no reason you have to read them.

hey trader joe's! i've got the new steely dan. (Jordan), Friday, 18 December 2009 20:19 (sixteen years ago)

Based on those videos you think, or have you been making the rounds of MD and DC halls and clubs?

curmudgeon, Friday, 18 December 2009 20:22 (sixteen years ago)

I haven't even watched 'em all yet

curmudgeon, Friday, 18 December 2009 20:23 (sixteen years ago)

nah, i've never seen a go go show live, so i know i can't really talk. just not impressed by those bootlegs.

hey trader joe's! i've got the new steely dan. (Jordan), Friday, 18 December 2009 20:24 (sixteen years ago)

i only know what i hear on the radio and occasionally at shows or on bootlegs, but go-go has been boring or bumming me out pretty steadily for the past few years

some dude, Friday, 18 December 2009 21:21 (sixteen years ago)

is no artist safe from this monster pharell

actually if he wasnt singing id like this a lot

deej, Monday, 21 December 2009 21:55 (sixteen years ago)

lmao @ that beat, everytime i think the neptunes have hit rock bottom they dig a ditch

some dude, Monday, 21 December 2009 21:57 (sixteen years ago)

i dunno i think its funny to imagine gucci chilling on the beach w/ an umbrella in his drink rapping to this

deej, Monday, 21 December 2009 21:58 (sixteen years ago)

i wonder if he was like "i'm tired of getting these lush, full-bodied beats for free from my in-house producers, i should get something incredibly chintzy and cheap-sounding from the most successful and expensive producers of the past decade"

some dude, Monday, 21 December 2009 22:02 (sixteen years ago)

i think i'm developing a morbid fascination with pharell's quiet storm + big corny bridge tracks. they're terrible, but at least they're different from anything else. i'd love to hear the beat cd with the tracks that DON'T get picked.

xp

hey trader joe's! i've got the new steely dan. (Jordan), Monday, 21 December 2009 22:03 (sixteen years ago)
