strongohulkington, Wednesday, 16 May 2007 20:43 (nineteen years ago)

he definitely did do a remix of it.

stirmonster, Wednesday, 16 May 2007 20:44 (nineteen years ago)

it's not very good, sadly.

strongohulkington, Wednesday, 16 May 2007 20:50 (nineteen years ago)

696, Wednesday, 16 May 2007 20:51 (nineteen years ago)

moonship journey to baja, Wednesday, 16 May 2007 21:15 (nineteen years ago)

anyone interested I'll play this in about 20 mins at the link from my blog above.

apologies for sound quality tonight, mixer is fucked and it's incredibly fucking annoying trying to mix on it and stressful too! oh well!

Ronan, Thursday, 17 May 2007 20:49 (nineteen years ago)

that's right now, click here if you want to hear it. 10 minutes left.

jergïns, Sunday, 27 May 2007 09:09 (nineteen years ago)

resolved, Sunday, 27 May 2007 15:02 (nineteen years ago)

anyone else go last night? was too tired/ill to make it past 7am, but it seemede to be shaping up nicely at that point...

toby, Sunday, 27 May 2007 16:05 (nineteen years ago)

dude is nicest guy in house. (also, busiest - fabric, t bar, lost w/ jeff mills then some secret after party thing apparently). also, sickhead dj

creme1, Monday, 28 May 2007 03:53 (nineteen years ago)

i really like his remix of one night in nyc. it discards all of the trite campness of the original but replaces it with a wonderfully hypnotic deep house break, and somehow manages to out-drug the original

creme1, Monday, 28 May 2007 03:57 (nineteen years ago)

new Ricardo track (that I believe Luciano played a bit of last week at Cielo) available here

the table is the table, Friday, 8 June 2007 15:52 (nineteen years ago)

street noise! crowds!

the table is the table, Friday, 8 June 2007 16:41 (nineteen years ago)

oh, what a great tune that is!

lfam, Friday, 8 June 2007 17:56 (nineteen years ago)

Hey table, nice to know you're a reader.

littlewhiteearbuds, Friday, 8 June 2007 18:12 (nineteen years ago)

With absolutely no justification other than the fact that it's > 20 minutes long and has street noise, I'm hoping this is the "...and the day turned to night" of microhouse.

http://deepmix.eu/selected/www.deepmix.ru%20-%20Live-192_2005_04_24%20-%20Villalobos_edit.mp3

making a mockery of mary anne hobbs' "ricardo's first radio session!!!" excitement, turns out he's presented one himself (talking us through some of the records)

resolved, Friday, 8 June 2007 19:56 (nineteen years ago)

wow that new track is brilliant.

Ronan, Friday, 8 June 2007 20:04 (nineteen years ago)

jesus....it's even better after the break at 13 mins or so

Ronan, Friday, 8 June 2007 20:07 (nineteen years ago)

wow! impressive work leaking this track. he's been playing it for a good few months. i have the original track the vox are from floating about somewhere

resolved, Friday, 8 June 2007 20:13 (nineteen years ago)

here

resolved, Friday, 8 June 2007 20:32 (nineteen years ago)

the new track is magnificent. it has that same sultry, tropical vibe the Señor Coconut mix explored so beautifully last year.

Jeb, Friday, 8 June 2007 20:35 (nineteen years ago)

yeah i'm pretty into it. sounded GREAT on a club system.

and hey, mr. earbuds, youse also on my blogroll.

the table is the table, Friday, 8 June 2007 23:42 (nineteen years ago)

what is your blog?

Ronan, Saturday, 9 June 2007 01:41 (nineteen years ago)

his blog is: http://deepmovements.blogspot.com/

lfam, Saturday, 9 June 2007 02:13 (nineteen years ago)

Ah I know that one. Cool. Techno blogs are really booming!

Ronan, Saturday, 9 June 2007 10:57 (nineteen years ago)

I have closed the incestuous blog circle.

Truly, Oh My Gosh deserves credit for the leak, but it's such a good tune I couldn't help but post it again. It has secret summer smash written all over it. Add "Free Your Mind" with Jay and Villalobos is looking pretty good for '07.

am0n, Saturday, 9 June 2007 17:45 (nineteen years ago)

boy i wonder...

the table is the table, Saturday, 9 June 2007 18:20 (nineteen years ago)

holy crap this is killer

kenan, Saturday, 9 June 2007 23:50 (nineteen years ago)

the hour-long thing linked by "resolved" -- i'll get around to the rest of it later. but that thing is fucking fucking good.

kenan, Saturday, 9 June 2007 23:53 (nineteen years ago)

oh man it keeps getting better.

kenan, Saturday, 9 June 2007 23:53 (nineteen years ago)

one month passes...

like the surprisingly semi-straighforwardness of his 2raumwohnung's "wir sind die anderen" remix - after the introductions of the wonky-minimal beat, it retains a singular moodiness, the percussion is linked to the central melody instead of locked into eternal combat with it, and it gets all microgoth at the end.

jermainetwo, Thursday, 19 July 2007 14:56 (eighteen years ago)

some messy sentence construction there, sorry.

jermainetwo, Thursday, 19 July 2007 14:57 (eighteen years ago)

Wire cover story is a really good read. confirms I've spent too much time thinking about him because I feel like I already knew his views on music/DJing etc before reading them. and you know, this Fabric mix is going to be very special.

resolved, Thursday, 19 July 2007 17:20 (eighteen years ago)

and props to Philip for highlighting 'Ichso'. my favourite too.

resolved, Thursday, 19 July 2007 17:21 (eighteen years ago)

so villalobos doesn't do interviews "because I've said everything I want to say", except when he does do interviews for Wire? i get it now.

*rolls eyes*

good dog, Thursday, 19 July 2007 17:38 (eighteen years ago)

i'm late to the party, but i just got the "cell phone's dead" rmx in the mail and it is the business. of course i bought the white and now it's officially on bpitch. grr. i like how he has a noticeably different sound for each label and then for the remix material. like "ichso" is so cadenza, etc. surely the reason this guy has such a rep is because even his tracks have so much raw musicianship going on.

tricky, Thursday, 19 July 2007 18:01 (eighteen years ago)

the wire interview is a lonnnggg time coming IMO as that magazine has unjustifiably ignored minimal techno and house for *years*, critical beats and one-pagers notwithstanding. now i won't cancel my sub.

tricky, Thursday, 19 July 2007 18:07 (eighteen years ago)

Beck remix is on bpitch? Dont quite understand that one..

fandango, Thursday, 19 July 2007 18:47 (eighteen years ago)

Never mind..

fandango, Thursday, 19 July 2007 19:42 (eighteen years ago)

He's being "offered" for interviews by distros here (Switz.) in relation to his upcoming Montreux festival set. Mayhaps there's been a policy change...

blunt, Thursday, 19 July 2007 22:34 (eighteen years ago)

Fabric mix. which he refuses to talk about in the interview... if you've been paying attention you'll have your suspicions why

resolved, Thursday, 19 July 2007 22:47 (eighteen years ago)

and good dog, Sherburne interviewed him for a Trax frontcover a few months ago too. they obviously have a fairly decent working relationship at this point.

resolved, Thursday, 19 July 2007 22:48 (eighteen years ago)

speaking of fabric, this saturday w/monolake

creme1, Thursday, 19 July 2007 22:50 (eighteen years ago)

not to mention Mala and Omar S and British Murder Boys

resolved, Thursday, 19 July 2007 22:52 (eighteen years ago)

yeah, starting to think i might go to this

Tracer Hand, Thursday, 19 July 2007 23:40 (eighteen years ago)

spoilt for choice!
