i saw him at monza, was shocked at how UK house it sounded.... very very good. full of these big gnarly basslines that i'd never heard in one of his sets before. quite fun.

it was at The Loft in Barcelona. Great to see a DJ play a couple of hours and not be able to trainspot any of the tracks. I think they even (wow) let him play twenty minutes over time. Now that's a first for BCN.

Anyone know anything about that "Romanian remix" of St Germain's "Rose Rouge" that's being played a bit lately? It's in the final fifteen minutes of the latest Raresh mix up on cocoonstyled, and Villalobos plays it in the 7 hour Harry Klein-set from a couple of months ago. He also played it when I saw him in Oslo on Saturday. I love the combination of the Fiz-like repetition of the main loop and those jazzy hi-hats.

he's been down to do a Fabric comp for three or more years, but I don't think they've ever had a firm date set before. although it's not like he'll have delivered the mix yet, so let's see if it happens.

Shackleton remix leaked, or is it out?

Also, Fabric-mix: I think it would be kind of great if it was actually just a release of his set at the Fabric birthday party, esp the second half. Really like the idea of having a completely anti Hawtin-style mix, like five tracks over the course of an hour or whatever.

I can't really parse the Shackleton remix at all yet. Is it decent, is it shite? Is it great? Is it worse than the original (I seem to be thinking this at the moment, love love love the sub in that). Really not sure. Ripped it into my comp from the vinyl so I can listen to it without having to flip it which seems to help a bit.

trying to google for more info about this, i found a previous 3 track villalobos-haze collab on contexterior from 2004 called "prefer summer" that i knew nothing about - also sounds lovely and balearic and dubby! "archive" is reminiscent of 'beau mot plague' even.
