The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society - 'Picture Book', specifically, on the stereo version. Except the next track just started: 'Johnny Thunder', a rare precognitive tribute record.

joeski love - "pee-wee's dance"

Cynthia Nixon Now More Than Ever (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 14 October 2004 19:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Sonic Youth "Schizophrenia" from the 1987 Peel Festive 50.
Oh, it's done, Public Enemy "Rebel Without A Pause" now, JAMC's 'April Skies' next.

Sounds from those 3 like it should be an eclectic compilation, but in reality the other 12 or so songs so far have been almost exclusively Smiths, Wedding Present and The (ubiquitous) Fall. Peelie should really have insisted on a '2 songs per band' rule or something.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Thursday, 14 October 2004 21:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Neil Young: "Powderfinger" from Rust Never Sleeps.

Rockist Scientist, Thursday, 14 October 2004 21:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Now I'm listening to the second "Hey Hey, My My" and pumping my arm non-ironically.

Rockist scientist, Thursday, 14 October 2004 21:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I'm going to get the other Neil Young stuff on my high-priority list.

Rockist Scientist, Thursday, 14 October 2004 21:37 (twenty-one years ago)

LIVE RUST is also great, RS. And of course Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, Harvest & After The Goldrush are classix.

Helios Creed (orion), Thursday, 14 October 2004 21:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Helios Creed (orion), Thursday, 14 October 2004 21:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Now I'm listen to the beginning of the Gun Club's Miami.

Is it weird to here this as precedent for the Smiths, especially something like "The Headmaster Ritual")?

This is okay so far.

Note: I changed my e-mail address and am waiting to get notification.

Jim Reckling (Jim Reckling), Thursday, 14 October 2004 23:34 (twenty-one years ago)

The soundtrack to Black Orpheus. I just put it on, but it seems really great already. It's not a matter of if I will start listening to more Brazilian music, but when. I love "A Felicidade" already.

But those barking dogs had me worried it was going to turn into Dreams Less Sweet.

Also, I wish the jazz samba class at U. of the Arts hadn't been discontinued.
