protip for kshighway1 since apparently we're from the same town (imma still need proof of this btw)--when u first encounter a new group of any type there probably needs to be a period we'll call "establishing credibility." yr first act here was "hyper-earnest indie rock poster" and then like a month later you came back for "jaded and experienced music blog reader and zinger" and now you're all like i'm gonna quit the internet and get butthurt all the time--not once have you presented yourself as an actual multidimensional human being.

guys I think posting advice that goes beyond "dude, relax and don't assume everyone is constantly attacking you" is possibly rude and overbearing...?

anyone heard the Farrar/Gibbard/Kerouac collab? They dug up Kerouac's body and made him make an alt-country record.

(kinda doubt it, but i can't lie, tupelo is still one of my most cherished bands ever)

I seem to remember certain people really enjoying Gillian Welch's Time (The Revelator)

That and Andonye are all that I make a habit of listening to from the genre.

Shh! It's NOT Me!, Thursday, 12 November 2009 17:56 (sixteen years ago)

fuck it, i kinda like that one golden smog record and the EP too

lots of jerks (gbx), Thursday, 12 November 2009 17:59 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah, would say that Tupelo, 1st Son Volt, Time the Revelator, ummm maybe some other stuff is essential, even if it's "alt-country".

tylerw, Thursday, 12 November 2009 17:59 (sixteen years ago)

anyway, what's going on in this thread. holla bloggaz

tylerw, Thursday, 12 November 2009 18:01 (sixteen years ago)

why are you suggesting I'm an aspie?

― kshighway1, Thursday, November 12, 2009 11:07 AM (45 minutes ago) Bookmark Suggest Ban Permalink

I'm not sure he is...? I think the conversation ran roughly like this:

1. You mention you're leaving.
2. Kate references the ancient ILX meme "when come back, bring pie."
3. Mr. Que notes that "pie" rhymes with "high" and posts "kspieway" as a play on your display name.
4. Dan notes that "kspie" looks like "aspie" (which, apart from being slang for the social disorder known as Asperger's Syndrome, is another ILX meme) and asks if "kspieway" is pronounced "kaspie-way."

That's pretty much it. It's just bored people making jokes. Given that ILXors have given you a hard time in the past, I can understand why you might be on guard more than usual when it comes to personal attacks, but this really isn't one.

OMG yes, I love this record.

Nuyorican oatmeal (jaymc), Thursday, 12 November 2009 18:03 (sixteen years ago)

Clarification: "When come back, bring pie" is a Rathergood/general Internet meme, not an ILX meme

a Barbie-like nub where he provates should be (HI DERE), Thursday, 12 November 2009 18:04 (sixteen years ago)

maybe my fave 'local' record, if only because of when it first came out

lots of jerks (gbx), Thursday, 12 November 2009 18:06 (sixteen years ago)

album title is "Tomorrow the Green Grass", just had to get that out of my head because it was bugging me. and it is awesome.

GO THICK AMOS! (jjjusten), Thursday, 12 November 2009 18:06 (sixteen years ago)

ive used "Blue" over the years to make people grudgingly admit that alt-country can be good.
