Whenever i read arguments on the internet i always get "Break My Stride" by Matthew Wilder stuck in my head.
I miss greenspun.

Tbh this hardly qualifies as an "argument".

guys i don't know why you're even wasting your time arguing with someone who makes more than twice your annual income, and is far and away held in higher regard as a writer/author
yeah gonna just flat-out say that I am 100% certain that Ott doesn't make twice MY income

people actually say shit like that if they have the Brandoesque swagger and six figure paychecks to pull it off
I randomly read this and thought you said "Bandwagonesque swagger" and I wondered if this thread took another kickass derailing.

Dan, do you drive a solid gold submarine? Do you? Because if you don't, you might wanna think twice about that statement.

Well of course Dan doesn't drive it, he hires someone to do that.

in other news, apparently Idolator is now making dummy comment accounts to keep up appearances...
by dsven at 6:45 am Who are these “new” commenters? Half of them say “User Not Exist” when you click on their names…”Janet” and “Amanda” link to articles on Janet Jackson and Amanda Overmeyer from AI.
Something is rotten in the state of Denmark.

The True Gentleman is the man whose conduct proceeds from good will and an acute sense of propriety, and whose self-control is equal to all emergencies; who does not make the poor man conscious of his poverty, the obscure man of his obscurity, or any man of his inferiority or deformity; who is himself humbled if necessity compels him to humble another; who does not flatter wealth, cringe before power, or boast of his own possessions or achievements; who speaks with frankness but always with sincerity and sympathy; whose deed follows his word; who thinks of the rights and feelings of others, rather than his own; and who appears well in any company, a man with whom honor is sacred and virtue safe.

"WAH, you should pay me for my opinions about pop music, especially now that it doesn't generate any capital! It's my right to expect this!" is much classier and more dignified.
^ I'm totally with you. all of those posts where Maura and her writers complained about not getting paid were just awful. I mean, did you fucking READ her last post? completely undignified. I'm so with you here.
you know, people should be paid for their opinions about music, especially when those opinions are as worthwhile as those of the people who ran and wrote for Idolator. i want to read intelligent writing on pop music, as do many others, and we're lucky that smart people who know a lot about the subject want to produce it.
it's super funny that you think Idolator "failed" in some way. they had an amazing three year run, which is more than anyone can say about most blogs—most things—in life. Maura and all of the other writers did more to make the discourse about music on the internet far more intelligent, wide-ranging, and worthwhile than the majority of other music sites out there. it's hilarious that you're making fun of people who actually put the effort into raising the bar instead of just bitching on a message board about how bad music sites are.
alright, that's about it. done giving time to this bullshit.
