If you run out of good stuff to read on nu-Idolator there's always the venerable Stereogum holding it down:
DEATH CAB ROCK HOT TOPIC!!!11!
― kshighway1, Tuesday, 10 November 2009 19:21 (sixteen years ago)
Stereogum has been Buzznet's flagship for a while, but I'm very sad that its status is now justified.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 10 November 2009 19:23 (sixteen years ago)
(although, in the beginning when Stereogum was just Scott Lapatine posting whatever he wanted to, it was a great blog.)
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 10 November 2009 19:24 (sixteen years ago)
This seems very sudden; Maura was even on NPR on Sunday talking about American Idol and was introduced as the editor of Idolator.com.

I guess now guys can stop complaining when their girlfriends get bitchy once a month in the hopes that they turn into Rihanna.

Yeah, nothing warms my heart like a good PMS joke.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 10 November 2009 19:31 (sixteen years ago)
Especially if it brings in boyfriends' reactions to PMS, amirite?

Too true.
At least they had the decency to remove Maura's name from the site.

Maura, if you're reading, can you post something here about what happened?
― YOUR MOMS SPOT HERON WITH NO HANDS I'M SMACKIN HER (Beatrix Kiddo), Tuesday, 10 November 2009 19:41 (sixteen years ago)
I'm kind of hoping that what's happening here is a real-life recreation of the Mad Men finale. I find some comfort in believing that Maura and Whiney and a couple others are holed up in a hotel room somewhere plotting something big while Becky and Robbie were scraped from the bottom of the McCann barrel to keep Idolator functioning simply because Buzznet has the rights to the name.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 10 November 2009 19:45 (sixteen years ago)
That would be amazing.

"Happy 40th B-Day, Sesame Street!"http://idolator.com/5290432/happy-40th-b-day-sesame-street
In honor of Sesame Street’s 40th Anniversary today, here’s the smooth-jazziest rendition of the Sesame Street theme, as sung by Joshua Radin. Can’t you just imagine Oscar the Grouch wearing a beret sipping an espresso while listening to this play in a piano bar in the West Village?

Robbie = Ken Cosgrove
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 10 November 2009 19:48 (sixteen years ago)
How much money would we pay to hear John sing “Your Body is a Wonderland” to Elmo? Infinity dollars. That’s how much.
This can't be real.
Becky = Lois the foot chopping secretary
infinity dollars!!!

Howard Beale: I don't have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It's a depression. Everybody's out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar buys a nickel's work, banks are going bust, shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter. Punks are running wild in the street and there's nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there's no end to it. We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat, and we sit watching our TV's while some local newscaster tells us that today we had fifteen homicides and sixty-three violent crimes, as if that's the way it's supposed to be. We know things are bad - worse than bad. They're crazy. It's like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don't go out anymore. We sit in the house, and slowly the world we are living in is getting smaller, and all we say is, 'Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel-belted radials and I won't say anything. Just leave us alone.' Well, I'm not gonna leave you alone. I want you to get mad! I don't want you to protest. I don't want you to riot - I don't want you to write to your congressman because I wouldn't know what to tell you to write. I don't know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians and the crime in the street. All I know is that first you've got to get mad.Howard Beale: [shouting] You've got to say, 'I'm a HUMAN BEING, Goddamnit! My life has VALUE!' So I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window. Open it, and stick your head out, and yell,[shouting]Howard Beale: 'I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!' I want you to get up right now, sit up, go to your windows, open them and stick your head out and yell - 'I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!' Things have got to change. But first, you've gotta get mad!... You've got to say, 'I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!' Then we'll figure out what to do about the depression and the inflation and the oil crisis. But first get up out of your chairs, open the window, stick your head out, and yell, and say it:Howard Beale: [screaming at the top of his lungs] "I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!"

Thierry pointed out something that smacks of truth. It seems like Robbie and Becky never even read Idolator to begin with, and now they're writing for it.
I checked the blog links in the Chart Rigger sidebar and, nope, there's no link to Idolator at all.

Sadly, this is the most I've commented on Idolator during a single day in well over a year.

it should be pretty sobering for these two that they are getting appropriately sonned by kshighway

Alright With MeOoh, folky! Am I clapping hands and singing around a campfire? I just might be! I think I’m liking this one best because it just sounds different. It’s got its own personality, whereas almost every other song on this album sounds like another version of itself. But this song is, wait for it, alright with meeee!!! Wooo high five for awesome puns!!
hang on was this SERIOUSLY JUST POSTED
it's like the dregs of first-year student journalism

i really want these people to stand up and explain themselves! i wonder what they think their selling point is.

Buzznet is clearly just shifting their target to tweens and/or people who self-loathe.

^^insulting tweens and people who self-loathe

btw thank you for this illuminating portrait of what this song sounds like, I can clearly imagine it in my mind based off of these two simple sentences
oh wait, no I can't because YOU HAVEN'T SAID A FUCKING THING ABOUT THE SONG
― a Barbie-like nub where he provates should be (HI DERE), Tuesday, 10 November 2009 20:34 (sixteen years ago)
look what he's saying is every other song sounds like itself, and this song doesn't sound like itself. it sounds like a different song.

I kinda like their bold anti-piano platform?
It's like Denby's bold stance against film. Only, y'know, against music?
