Which just begs the question... are they just another fake boyband being manufactured by a producer?

Of course, Kate!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 14:18 (twenty-three years ago)

Ned is the zeitgeist.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 14:22 (twenty-three years ago)

HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAAAAAARRRRRR!!!

Yeah, Albert Hammond Jr is just about as ugly as Andy Taylor, as well... I think Fab is the John Taylor of the band, due to the Drew Barrymore : Amanda DeCadenet analogy... Nick Rhodes clearly = the French one, cause all the French have arty pretentions... etc. etc. etc.

kate, Wednesday, 21 May 2003 14:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Kate was there (well, was online) when I came up with the unholy revelation that Guns n' Roses was just a boyband. After that everything else made much more sense.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 14:27 (twenty-three years ago)

I just saw a very good band from Chicago called The Ponys who sound like what I kind of imagined The Strokes would sound before I axctually heard them... kind of casual sister ray-roadrunner throbulation played by cool kids, but all heart... they kinda kill The Strokes dead actually, the more I think about it. But I think a Ponys LP may demand a little more from the listener than "Is This It?" - which is not neccessarily a good thing. I liked how easy-going The Strokes were, the "take it or leave" stance made the album easier to love.

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 14:31 (twenty-three years ago)

The Strokes rock!!

Evan (Evan), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 14:38 (twenty-three years ago)

the ponys are "the royal tennenbaums" to the strokes' "igby goes down"

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 14:48 (twenty-three years ago)

one year passes...
urgent and key

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 13:20 (twenty-one years ago)

That was depressing.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 13:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Holy shit.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 13:24 (twenty-one years ago)

ugh. OTM ned.

peter smith (plsmith), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 13:34 (twenty-one years ago)

i mean, strokes totally classic still.

peter smith (plsmith), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 13:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I generally have nothing against revivalist bands like The Strokes (I loved "Hard To Explain" and "Last Night"), but do they have to be so shitty live?

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I woke up hungover Sunday morning with no memory of Saturday night past 11 (what/who I did), and then I came close to screaming and crying because I thought I was in the room alone. It took me a full five minutes or so to realize that Julian was just in the shower and not in another bed somewhere with another girl(s). Took me only about 5 seconds after that to realize I was about to be sick, so I stumbled to the bathroom and managed to get to the toilet and threw up until I was puking bile. Jules standing there in the shower looking down at me and looking dead said "if only I could hide it as well as you do." Then for different reasons I came close to a breakdown and suddenly hated him more than I'd ever hated anything, but he said head up, baby, this shit isn't new to you anymore, you never do anything you don't intend to. So I got over it, as one does, then a smile and a kiss and a fuck and a song and back to normal.

oh dear...

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 13:58 (twenty-one years ago)

That is a whole world of wrong.

Ricardo (RickyT), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:01 (twenty-one years ago)

well that settles that then - strokes: classic!

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:03 (twenty-one years ago)

omg he kissed her just after she puked!!

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:06 (twenty-one years ago)

a smile and a kiss and a fuck and a song and the land that we stand on is ours...

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:08 (twenty-one years ago)

head up, baby, this shit isn't new to you anymore, you never do anything you don't intend to

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Yikes.

Am I alone in wanting the next Strokes record to be based entirely (lyrically) on that paragraph?

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:11 (twenty-one years ago)

i know - he talks just like his songs!!!

peter smith (plsmith), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:11 (twenty-one years ago)

meet me in the bathroom!

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Like most blogs I've read I kinda wish I didn't know this much about her life. Reading this makes me feel kinda icky.

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:15 (twenty-one years ago)

she kinda hot tho

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:18 (twenty-one years ago)

aside from the bile

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:18 (twenty-one years ago)

she very hot - good times for the strokes

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:19 (twenty-one years ago)

*checks photo again* I disagree with you on this hotness assessment.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Monday was Julian's birthday, happy times. I did my best to make it special, and uhh I think I did..that's all I'll say.

ned you nuts

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:20 (twenty-one years ago)

mcdonalds birthday party!

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:21 (twenty-one years ago)

That quote decreases it further.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:22 (twenty-one years ago)

she's got a younger e.g. daily quality but foxier i think

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:22 (twenty-one years ago)

ned if you're gonna start rejecting strokes sloppy seconds you are seriously shrinking your pond dude

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:23 (twenty-one years ago)

agreed with blount and neurotic w/r/t sheer, mindblowing hotness.

maybe she took him to Chuckie Cheese; wasn't real specific.

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:23 (twenty-one years ago)

'heads up baby, here's a real Happy Meal'

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:24 (twenty-one years ago)

*considers that this means Blount hangs around the Strokes' hotels looking for girlfriends*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:24 (twenty-one years ago)

"You got a Happy Meal, but you ain't too happy!" --Creflow Dollar

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:27 (twenty-one years ago)

(Dan in rare tongue-biting moment wrt making fun of Blount)

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:27 (twenty-one years ago)

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:28 (twenty-one years ago)

- j. casablancas

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:28 (twenty-one years ago)

she really likes pictures of herself, doesn't she?

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:30 (twenty-one years ago)

(In retrospect it wasn't as mean as I thought it was, but it also wasn't funny; it was just some tired "Well Ned, where do you expect Blount to look for girlfriends?" bullshit. 3/10)

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:30 (twenty-one years ago)

trolling hotelhallways for strokes spunk spitoons would barely rank in skeeviness on my 'the things we do for love' scale

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:32 (twenty-one years ago)

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Those are your favorite spittoons, then.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Last night: As I already said, last night was the Libertines show, and as I already said, it was unbelievable. I feel like I'm watching something almost historic in music culture when I see them perform

g--ff (gcannon), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Any further claims of hotness have just been torpedoed.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:37 (twenty-one years ago)

ah ned i see you're unfamiliar with the 'you like tori amos? i LOVE tori amos! she's a genius!' gambit

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:38 (twenty-one years ago)

That picture > all the "bus" picks from that rancorous noise thread

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:39 (twenty-one years ago)

it's like it was taken at a mork convention.

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:40 (twenty-one years ago)
