the morane album is very pop but the 12" mixes are just plain warped dance music. an acquired taste perhaps but one i've acquired big time.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Friday, 27 January 2006 19:39 (twenty years ago)

so far Los Siete Castigos is rillyawesome and nothing like I expected.

Lukas (lukas), Saturday, 28 January 2006 07:09 (twenty years ago)

is this a mislabeled Mouse On Mars track? like something from Autoditacker?

Lukas (lukas), Saturday, 28 January 2006 07:11 (twenty years ago)

U R ALL FANS OF INTELLIGENT DANCE MUSIC

(Globetrottel is killer though)

Lukas (lukas), Saturday, 28 January 2006 07:21 (twenty years ago)

wel duh

vahid (vahid), Saturday, 28 January 2006 07:48 (twenty years ago)

there's one track on the dandy jack, i forget which, that is TOTALLY some lost mouse on mars thing. uncanny.

philip sherburne (philip sherburne), Saturday, 28 January 2006 17:47 (twenty years ago)

I just listened to the Superlongevity mix (CD2) again this morning and damn did it not sound like the best thing in the world while it was playing. Are there any similar sounding livesets going around?
Besides Taka Taka & Fabric 17, I'm drawing a blank on any commercially available minimal mixes that are so damn organic/funky/sexy.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 17:40 (twenty years ago)

xpost to Mike Gill

- have you heard Luciano's Live @ Weetamix release? It's very much along the same line and progresses in a surprising manner, especially in the first half of the mix.

Trace, Tuesday, 31 January 2006 20:38 (twenty years ago)

the new pantytec is nuts. at first i was thinking it was a bit too dry and reduced but then the trombones came in. groovy as anything.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Tuesday, 14 February 2006 20:27 (twenty years ago)

Tromboner!

I'm sold.

jimnaseum (jimnaseum), Tuesday, 14 February 2006 20:35 (twenty years ago)

it is, indeed, fantastic. the side with the trombones mixes great with villalobos' horn-laden burial mix remix, as well.

philip sherburne (philip sherburne), Tuesday, 14 February 2006 21:05 (twenty years ago)

dear lord how i want to hear those smy remixes!

Jena (JenaP), Tuesday, 14 February 2006 21:15 (twenty years ago)

the villalobos and v. delay remixes are great!! when i first heard the villalobos remix i was thinking the same exact thing, philip. haven't tried it yet. :)

Ooh, Perlon 54 - Matt John - Joker Family Park Two! 6 tracks in 55mins. I think it's as good as part one.

i just realized i have a chain reaction 12" called "no stunts" by... "pelon" - any relation?

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 21:02 (twenty years ago)

no elation.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 21:10 (twenty years ago)

I love that Pelon track! It's on the Chain Reaction comp.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 22:06 (twenty years ago)

the 12" is kind of unusual in that side B seems to actually be a continuation of the track on side A ...

hey, is Superlongevity 4 (2xCD) mixed or not?

fandango (fandango), Friday, 19 May 2006 14:21 (twenty years ago)

unmixed

Jedmond (Jedmond), Friday, 19 May 2006 22:02 (twenty years ago)

Hey fanatics,

this is one of the Narcoboys from Perlon posting, just stumbled on this page while googling for "Superlongevity 4". Thank you all for your praise, I enjoyed reading every bit. Jedmond inquired about "4000 to the Floor". Well, this one will be mainly retrospective, probably CD-only and it is not quite sure when it's going to be out, maybe in 2007. Narcotic Syntax have other musical priorities at the moment, but I hope you'll enjoy our forthcoming 2x12"EP "Provocative Percussion" to be released on the Cologne-based WIR label (a spin-off of the Treibstoff community) in September. Keep the vibes and always remember: The Perlonoids do it only for you.

JDB

James Dean Brown, Monday, 22 May 2006 17:24 (twenty years ago)

cool, thank you JDB!!

Tracey Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 22 May 2006 17:30 (twenty years ago)

Stefan Goldmann "Darkstar" oh my fucking god

Telephonething (Telephonething), Thursday, 1 June 2006 23:40 (twenty years ago)

Only a slightly delayed response: thanks for the info regarding "4000 to the Floor", much appreciated.

Jedmond (Jedmond), Friday, 2 June 2006 00:06 (twenty years ago)

OMFG also to "Raptor's Delight." Kudos JDB, you have rocked my ass (hard core styles).

Telephonething (Telephonething), Friday, 2 June 2006 01:25 (twenty years ago)

hee! 'raptors delight' and 'darkstar' alongside 'first laki' and 'wheelsucker' are my faves off this. the snares on 'darkstar'!!!!

stirmonster (stirmonster), Friday, 2 June 2006 01:53 (twenty years ago)

"Raptors delight" and "Wheelsucker" are tied for my favourite tracks - mainly due to the humid/good mood I'm in (screw the Morane album, I just wanna new Markus Nikolai album).

Jedmond (Jedmond), Friday, 2 June 2006 02:28 (twenty years ago)

Oh man, Superlongevity 4 just keeps getting better and better. Tell me, are all of Akufen's Horror Inc tracks this good? Also: if I've fallen madly in love with this comp, should I go for the 2xcd mixed Superlongevity 2, or Superlongevity 3 next? Currently skewing toward SL2 since it's cheaper despite being nearly twice as much music, but any and all recommendations are welcome.

Telephonething (Telephonething), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 01:23 (twenty years ago)

Go for Superlongevity 2! 3 is v. good but 2 is a goldmine of brilliance.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 07:43 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, you can't go wrong with either!

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 12:21 (twenty years ago)

2 is more of what Perlon do best. There are other good labels doing the stripped back dubby thing, but no other label is as surprising as Perlon which 2 and 4 showcase brilliantly.

Jacob (Jacob), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 17:21 (twenty years ago)

Anyone commented on the Horror Inc. track on SLE4? Now this is brilliant!

Btw. there is a new Stefan Goldmann coming up named Sleepy Hollow. Zip was spinning it from cdr, but it doesn't seem to be coming out on Perlon. Any info on this one?

LLM (LLM), Sunday, 11 June 2006 08:49 (nineteen years ago)

Kind of annoyed I missed the 2 Perlon nights at Berghain! ff!

fandango (fandango), Sunday, 11 June 2006 19:47 (nineteen years ago)

i know there is a new goldmann coming up on perlon, so that's prolly the one...

philip sherburne (philip sherburne), Sunday, 11 June 2006 20:11 (nineteen years ago)

perlon nights at berghain were terrific! this was were Zip played this new goldmann... really looking forward to it.

and Zip played the main floor - which was pretty cool, but kind of different to the p.bar vibe.

LLM (LLM), Monday, 12 June 2006 13:45 (nineteen years ago)

okay, I'm feeling slightly better about missing the Perlon nights now because Cassy fucking rocked Panorama Bar last night! She even played Energy Flash omg :0

Really really reaaaally wanted to stay till the absolute end for Dinky but had nothing left to give and needed... big rest. I should take more drugs I guess.

fandango (fandango), Sunday, 18 June 2006 19:07 (nineteen years ago)

is anyone else hearing a really quiet version of the keyboard line from the second half of luomo's class in dandy jack's ixchel? starting right around three minutes in and going for maybe half a minute?

lf (lfam), Friday, 23 June 2006 05:38 (nineteen years ago)

oh my god that song is so great. is it an anomaly or does it indicate a switch to more vocal productions for dandy jack?

lf (lfam), Monday, 26 June 2006 04:16 (nineteen years ago)

"darkstar" is, like, the fucking jam.

will someone make a perlon track with a giant dub bassline already tho??

david allen grier (dubplatestyle), Monday, 24 July 2006 01:45 (nineteen years ago)

Not Perlon per se, but Cabanne's Dirtycology Pt. 1 is something mighty fine, the Agnes remix especially.

So has anyone heard the new Melchior Productions LP (No Disco Future)?

Telephone thing, Saturday, 3 November 2007 03:08 (eighteen years ago)

Man I really want to, I didn't even know it was on Perlon. Personally I'm really intrigued by this claims about getting away from his microhousey style, which is usually what I find works against him (those same skittery hat lines and vocal snippet type tracks can only go so far unfortunately) Nevertheless I'm excited, I'm in a bit of a Melchior phase right now where I'm convinced he is more or less a genius. This is the result of recently giving Different Places a solid listen for the first time since last winter, and, more drastically, discovering Law of Grace about a month ago (after having heard it live in the summer, not knowing what it was then) which has pretty much reduced me to tears several times since I first downloaded it.

In other 'Lon news I encountered someone who's selling copies of Perlon 1 through 28 on vinyl. Man, if I had enough disposable money on me. . . (I did manage to get separate copies of the first Perlon release AND Frank Mueller Melodram for $4 each off him though :D )

mehlt, Saturday, 3 November 2007 03:27 (eighteen years ago)

would you part with a copy of rood?

elan, Saturday, 3 November 2007 15:30 (eighteen years ago)

and yeah, the aspect music cd is amazing.
