the table is the table (treesessplode), Monday, 22 January 2007 22:59 (nineteen years ago)

unbelievable track at about 35 minutes of part 2. new Ricardo production? sounds like For Disco Only 2 taken further into space with better drums.

the point where Villalobos, Vooredoms and Mu meet???
however you feel about this... it'd be a headfuck

a (rslvd), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 15:01 (nineteen years ago)

the point where Villalobos, Vooredoms and Mu meet???

aka the DJs post your mixes thread

Dominique (dleone), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 15:18 (nineteen years ago)

digitally mixed != meet

someone should at least tear this apart. or let's just do it in 6 months

the point where Villalobos, Vooredoms and Mu meet???

I'm not sure about that... but this is amazing, totally insane. Love the totally off-kilter, LOUD drums that come in about five minutes into the clip and threaten to throw the track completely out... but just propel it onwards. Would love to hear this on, eg, the Fabric soundsystem.

braveclub (braveclub), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 14:34 (nineteen years ago)

which room?

after listening to him a lot for the few days, i think my current track of his is the 'lugom-ix.' i guess, though, that it isn't really his?

the table is the table (treesessplode), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 18:01 (nineteen years ago)

anyone else disappointed with villalobos' output as of late? i'm just ... eh. whatever.

Cameron Octigan (Cameron Octigan), Thursday, 25 January 2007 02:13 (nineteen years ago)

Not at all! Fizheuer, Sinner in me remix, and What's wrong my friends E.P. (which is great). This is a solid run!

Coincidentally:

jimn (jimnaseum), Thursday, 25 January 2007 02:23 (nineteen years ago)

Of course I would say this.

jimn (jimnaseum), Thursday, 25 January 2007 02:25 (nineteen years ago)

i think Africolaps and Dummolator are both fucking awesome, particularly the RUMBLE of the synth throughout the latter. Also the dubby chords.

ODB b/w Varese and Villalobos = really sweet, even if it isn't a continuous playlist.

the table is the table (treesessplode), Thursday, 25 January 2007 03:06 (nineteen years ago)

which room?

1

a nuclear-powered carrot (braveclub), Thursday, 25 January 2007 10:15 (nineteen years ago)

I'm sure he'll play it on the Room 1 soundsystem uh, next week

a (rslvd), Thursday, 25 January 2007 10:19 (nineteen years ago)

I hope so.

a nuclear-powered carrot (braveclub), Thursday, 25 January 2007 10:21 (nineteen years ago)

also: 9AM closing, 3 DJs! what. love it.

a (rslvd), Thursday, 25 January 2007 10:23 (nineteen years ago)

the point of it all

in short

ronan fitzgerald alluded to my spontaneous convulsions and subsequently succumbed to the spellbinding wonders of villalobos' opus!

should i be proud or embarrassed of such an accomplishment?

possibly both...

Somehow ive missed hearing FZ until, well, that video. and its pretty awesome i think. i dont know about all this auteurism thing on this thread, its a party tune! the kind where it comes on, and the sitting down people seem to magically levitate out of their seats and suddenly appear on the dancefloor without realising how they got there

Storefront Church (688), Tuesday, 30 January 2007 09:37 (nineteen years ago)

reuben...proud! did you guys rehearse that? it seems like there was a plan and then it all spiralled out of control...

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 30 January 2007 09:38 (nineteen years ago)

That video kills me.

jimn (jimnaseum), Tuesday, 30 January 2007 09:40 (nineteen years ago)

I even have it on my myspace profile.

jimn (jimnaseum), Tuesday, 30 January 2007 09:45 (nineteen years ago)

can i have the link to that video? oh man it erases any previous doubts about fizheuer!

wogan lenin (dog latin), Tuesday, 30 January 2007 12:18 (nineteen years ago)

the link tis upthread a bit

Trace Henry (Trace), Tuesday, 30 January 2007 14:45 (nineteen years ago)

lol, this is like when The Lex finally stopped slagging off Dubstep

"what changed?"
"I listened to it!"

ok!

fandango (fandango), Tuesday, 30 January 2007 14:49 (nineteen years ago)

i am the same as ronan in that this clip was the first time i heard the track (i was waiting for it to turn up on bleep but it didn't) when it was posted on ILM the other week. made me think of Designer Music (Carl Craig) 'Good Girls' somehow (in terms of it's function) but yeah it's more sophisticated than that i guess. does make me wish i had heard it out somewhere last Autumn tho (ideally outside ha, RURAL MUSIC). love the cover artwork too. may be the track to finally get me liking villalobos. but naturally for me (tho perhaps wrongly) i'm thinking more about what can be done around the track (in a mix/set i guess) rather than the track itself.

vita susicivus (blueski), Tuesday, 30 January 2007 15:02 (nineteen years ago)

reuben! you made me love it, too! thank you.

friday on the porch (lfam), Tuesday, 30 January 2007 19:13 (nineteen years ago)

we knew only that it was to be reminiscent of a contorted fascist march... spiraling out of control in absurdist fashion

that aside, i am befuddled by how such an asinine creation was able to spur people to discover the music of villalobos

somewhere philip sherburne is smiling...

reuben t. (Super 87), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 08:54 (nineteen years ago)

Saturday night I had a dream that Ricardo Villalobos was goalkeeper for Bayern Munich. He managed to score a goal from a long ball up the park. The ball bounched just outside the box, and blocked by one of his defenders and an opposition striker the other goalkeeper failed in his attempts to run out and clear it. It bounced high and went into the goal. I think the opposition team was Serie B side Genoa (the rivals of the Italian team I support - Sampdoria).

jimn (jimnaseum), Monday, 5 February 2007 21:57 (nineteen years ago)

anyone make it to fabric on saturday? anything exciting?

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 08:59 (nineteen years ago)

no:( was going to go, but it all kind of never happened

Friendly Tree (688), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 09:23 (nineteen years ago)

wish i'd gone but combined forces of debilitating hangover/debilitating writer's block/utter disorganisation re moving house/tiredness following bday dinner on the night meant pas de ricardo for me :(

antidote against poisoning (lex pretend), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 09:46 (nineteen years ago)

i didn't make it either, but i dreamt a friend and i went and got chucked out for requesting "gett off" by prince! i'm more bothered that i missed jay haze actually. oh wells, theo parrish is playing at plastic people on the 18th!

rio natsume (rio natsume), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 10:37 (nineteen years ago)

I went... it was great. one of his better sets I've seen there, although very rhythmic/introverted for large stretches... went on until 2pm!

the new track (drums + mental female) that hardly anyone seemed to bother downloading above sounded FANTASTIC over the system. very full and amazing crowd response (especially when the groove kicks back in towards the end). the live drums also stick out in the mix far less over a proper rig.

Shackleton remix good too although was having a stair break for a lot of it unfortunately... finished off his first set with the Rhythm and Sound remix, which I've never particularly dug before but through that floor... goddamn. then uh, 5 minutes of solo accordian music.

a (rslvd), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 10:44 (nineteen years ago)

fabric was open till 2pm?????

Friendly Tree (688), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 11:16 (nineteen years ago)

yeah, afterparty in room 3, invites for those who stuck around till the end

a (rslvd), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 11:25 (nineteen years ago)

:((((((((((((

i wouldn't have been able to do that in any case so maybe for the best. NEXT TIME.

antidote against poisoning (lex pretend), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 11:49 (nineteen years ago)

(i don't mean i physically couldn't have coped, i have buckets of stamina, i mean i had to go to a friend's bday brunch party at 11am on sun)

antidote against poisoning (lex pretend), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 11:49 (nineteen years ago)

Damn, now I wish I hadn't left 10 mins early to beat the cloakroom rush :(

Set sounded amazing though - esp. the aforementioned mental track posted above...

a nuclear-powered carrot (braveclub), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 11:51 (nineteen years ago)

oh wow, so you did go in the end robin?

bah:(

Friendly Tree (688), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 13:38 (nineteen years ago)

the mental track is quite clearly by him, too. his best production for quite a long time i reckon.

a (rslvd), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 13:49 (nineteen years ago)

Is that link for the new track still working? I'd completely missed it for whatever reason, at work now but definitely want to get it when I get home.

jimn (jimnaseum), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 15:58 (nineteen years ago)

re-up

a (rslvd), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 16:03 (nineteen years ago)

Ta.

jimn (jimnaseum), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 16:38 (nineteen years ago)

I'll have a pint of what Ricardo's having.

jimn (jimnaseum), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 21:17 (nineteen years ago)

oh shit, i DLed but was impatient and never listened to all of it until now. jeezus. yes.

the table is the table (treesessplode), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 21:46 (nineteen years ago)

26:35 Beck - Cell Phone's Dead (Villalobos remix)

this is awesome!

Save The Whales (688), Friday, 9 February 2007 10:38 (nineteen years ago)

10:50 Shackleton - Blood On My Hands (Villalobos redit?)

i couldnt make my mind up whether this was awful or awesome! i hated this for 8 minutes and then i realised it was awesome too

where are the words from, all that stuff about talos, is it...."the cage", the startrek pilot?

Save The Whales (688), Friday, 9 February 2007 10:40 (nineteen years ago)

Is this the Fabric 10th birthday mix or a new one?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 9 February 2007 11:14 (nineteen years ago)

7th birthday, non?

Save The Whales (688), Friday, 9 February 2007 11:22 (nineteen years ago)

wait, no, that can be right! something birthday anyway

Save The Whales (688), Friday, 9 February 2007 11:22 (nineteen years ago)

Finally heard the Beck remix, one of the best things he's done for sure.
