EDB, Tuesday, 16 June 2009 01:35 (sixteen years ago)

it was a cd.

hey deej, pretty sure i got it from this link:

There's an mp3 of Harvey's set at last summer's PS1 Warm Up (starting again this Saturday kids!) available here:
http://ps1.el.net/web/podcasts/dj_sessions/

Haven't downloaded the set yet, so no idea of the sound quality, but I remember the day he played as being a particularly good one.

sciolism, Monday, 22 June 2009 12:18 (sixteen years ago)

if some clever mod with nothing better to do wants to change the thread title so people don't think he's dead, that'd be nice. might I suggest panegyric, laudation, or tribute.

sciolism, Monday, 22 June 2009 12:23 (sixteen years ago)

ministry of sound cd still my favourite house mix cd ever

michael jatas (r1o natsume), Monday, 22 June 2009 13:20 (sixteen years ago)

eight months pass...

so anyone dig the locussolus ep? I like the slower b-side, which has some sweet guitar playing.

mizzell, Tuesday, 27 April 2010 18:53 (sixteen years ago)

^ya, i'm not huge on the a-side but "little boots" is pretty great. is he officially associated with this new 'international feel' label? because all of their other releases have been excellent so far, including that rocha 12" from last year, the "woman of candy" one-sided thing, and a bunch of upcoming, unreleased stuff too. looks like the guys from quiet village are putting something out on the label- under the pseudonym 'maxxi & zeus'- that sounds like awesome ambient balearica based on the samples. also some edits, including something they did to klaus schulze's "tango-saty"- you can hear most of these on the if soundcloud page

a lagoon par la mer (psychgawsple), Tuesday, 27 April 2010 21:04 (sixteen years ago)

i remember him saying he was frustrated that nobody could get a copy of the releases on whatever we want, so looks like this could just be a widely-distributed version of weww. which sounds great to me.

a lagoon par la mer (psychgawsple), Tuesday, 27 April 2010 21:08 (sixteen years ago)

three months pass...

i've been jamming a bunch of the international feel stuff today. Rocha, Hungry Ghost's Illuminations, Still Going remix of Coyote's Moving are all good.

mizzell, Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:00 (fifteen years ago)

sonic disco #1-3 are getting a re-release iirc

, Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:10 (fifteen years ago)

yea that new rocha single is great, esp the welcome stranger/thomas bullock remix. i'm actually down with most everything i've heard on the label, including the other two mizzell mentioned. "woman of candy" is HUGE

a lagoon par la mer (psychgawsple), Thursday, 5 August 2010 19:32 (fifteen years ago)

actually, to qualify- the new loccussolus track on the kenji takimi beats in space didn't do much for me. nor did the laughing light of plenty track after it, tbh

saw him last nite

timbo slice (D-40), Saturday, 2 April 2011 20:39 (fifteen years ago)

i think he dropped this
http://mp3skyline.com/rid-0x1bac2-house-arrest_-_version-1.0--ha001--mp3-download.html (the 2nd track)

timbo slice (D-40), Saturday, 2 April 2011 20:44 (fifteen years ago)

it was some rmx of that song anyway

timbo slice (D-40), Saturday, 2 April 2011 20:45 (fifteen years ago)

is it worth driving 700 miles to see him

I'm totally kidding. Congrats strangers. (Matt P), Saturday, 2 April 2011 21:24 (fifteen years ago)

i think harvey is one of those djs that u never what u were going to get. or i should say you can know what you are going to get but its going to be contextual. i personally prefer his sarcastic parties where he plays for 10 hours and drops everything underneath the sun. in a club setting ive heard him drop house all night with a few italo tracks. it was cool but was nothing like seeing him drop e2-e4 as the sun is coming up in santa cruz.

oscar, Saturday, 2 April 2011 22:10 (fifteen years ago)

yeah i'd drive 700 miles to go to a sarcastic party

one time gaffled 'em up (one time), Monday, 11 April 2011 23:56 (fifteen years ago)

never leaves my record crate

argh you have that. I passed it up when it came out and have never been able to find it.

http://www.discogs.com/sell/list?release_id=454721&ev=rb

dmr, Tuesday, 12 April 2011 00:53 (fifteen years ago)

i obsessed over finding it back in 06 after hearing it on that rub n tug mix

i called every record store in chicago asking if they had the original cause i didn't know about the cole medina edit. then found it the next day while looking for something else.

Oink Administrator (gr8080), Tuesday, 12 April 2011 01:42 (fifteen years ago)

I know I saw it at least once at Turntablelab but didn't know what it sounded like until later. It's pretty nondescript looking.

dmr, Tuesday, 12 April 2011 02:07 (fifteen years ago)

Just listening to this DJ Harvey interview - http://www.residentadvisor.net/podcast-episode.aspx?exchange=41

Around 30 mins in. Him on homophobia and sexuality, just hilarious.
