Matos beat you to it.

But it's seeming to me that the samples taken from those soul-jazz records makes the Idris case closed.

Ari Hoenig is stupid, in a good way. He looks like a rocker and his technique looks kinda weird and primitive, but his jazz playing is hot and dirty and melodic. He records solo cds of himself playing actual tunes on the drumset in a non-gimmicky fashion.

Oh, um, Greg Bissonnette!

Naive Teen Idol (Naive Teen Idol), Friday, 7 January 2005 14:31 (twenty-one years ago)

So are you saying he's too good to be considered a mere sesssion man, NTI?

Ken L (Ken L), Friday, 7 January 2005 14:36 (twenty-one years ago)

No, he taught at MY school. :>

Little known fact - he's doing the bass playing in that stupid episode of Sex in the City where she's dating the jazz bassist.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 7 January 2005 15:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm also having a bit of pronoun trouble as I couldn't tell which guy NTI was talking about at first. Now I think he was talking about Richard Davis and you Jordan are talking about Ron Carter. Correct?

Ken L (Ken L), Friday, 7 January 2005 15:14 (twenty-one years ago)

No, I'm talking about Richard, as is NTI.
