I always thought that "Good Vibrations" was the most expensive single ever (inflation taken into account). At least at the time it was I think. Brian Wilson spent several months and about 5 studios on it. Plenty of takes and orchestration and the theremin...

Every few months I walk past a certain building and am convinced that someone is blasting Good Vibrations out of an upstairs window, but it's an air conditioner that does a startling mimic of a theremin.

I've never thought Mike Love was that great of a singer. Way too nasaly, almost sardonic and apathetic. Listen to "Good Vibrations". It starts off so good until you get to Love's "I'm picking up good vibrations..." I picture him singing that part with his arms folded, eyes rolled, and foot tapping outside of the beat. Kill him by drowning him in Sunkist.

I have to do a presentation tomorrow on the influence of "Be My Baby" on subsequent musicians and producers. The only examples I've got so far are The Jesus and Mary Chain's "Just Like Honey", The Beach Boys' "Good Vibrations" and something off Loveless. Anyone got any ideas?
