i still remember how god awful her debut performance at the tribeca grand was. all i could think was that she needed a new stylist. those boots!!! i wish i had a pic

FYI: Don't Stop appeared on eMusic today (U.S. market, at least).

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 19 October 2009 16:34 (sixteen years ago)

phil that night was good for other reasons, though, i seem to remember. though i'm not actually remembering at all.

Tracer Hand, Monday, 19 October 2009 16:54 (sixteen years ago)

I find it really disappointed that we had to wait so long for this, as good as the album may be, it hard to get excited for something you've already listened to so many times and already moved on. This is the kind of music that NEEDS to sound fresh, IMO. So yeah, maybe album of the year... but which year?

That said, the Paul Epworth tracks are brilliant. I think he may now be my favorite producer.

*disappointing

The only songs I've heard so far are those that were relegated to the bonus disc. Maybe they put some normally A-side singles on the bonus disc for exactly the reasons you mention.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 19 October 2009 21:31 (sixteen years ago)

I bought it in A SHOP last night.

Am about to listen to it, and quite glad I avoided all the leaks and things, so that I can come to it with fresh ears.

Strawberry Letter 22 (Masonic Boom), Wednesday, 21 October 2009 10:06 (sixteen years ago)

really dug it on first listen, one or two throwaways (the breakfast song reminds me of CoS' housework song for some reason) but the high points are more interesting if not better than the first lp..

Looking at my "to listen to" I suddenly had the MOST AMAZING vision of the BEST. MUSIC. EVER.

Annie - extended Lindstrom and Prins Thomas Diskomiks.

This would almost be better than the Swedish all-girl spacerock band playing at Sonic Cathedral in my actual dream last night.

Strawberry Letter 22 (Masonic Boom), Wednesday, 21 October 2009 10:14 (sixteen years ago)

there is a lindstrom remix of an annie song! it's not that good tho :(

just sayin, Wednesday, 21 October 2009 10:25 (sixteen years ago)

Which one? One of the new ones?

Strawberry Letter 22 (Masonic Boom), Wednesday, 21 October 2009 10:31 (sixteen years ago)

I kind of see what people have been saying about the production now. It's been held back for so long that a lot of the songs sound a bit... well, dated. This is the problem with pop, it ends up being so much "of the moment" that holding something back for 2 years can mean that it comes out feeling ... just slightly wrong.

Strawberry Letter 22 (Masonic Boom), Wednesday, 21 October 2009 10:35 (sixteen years ago)

no the remix was of 'the wedding', the song off her dj kicks

just sayin, Wednesday, 21 October 2009 10:39 (sixteen years ago)

Her last album still sounds fresh and perfect to me.

Not nearly as sure about this new one.

Daniel, Esq., Wednesday, 21 October 2009 11:19 (sixteen years ago)

>I have listened to the Fred Falke remix of "Anthonio" about 200 times now.

I just noticed this on Spotify - Spencer utterly otm, so gorgeous.

Bill A, Friday, 30 October 2009 12:47 (sixteen years ago)

Actually, I kinda reverse what I was writing up there.

The album took a while to grow on me, but the more I played it, the more I liked of it.

Now, I think, with hindsight, it might seem that the first album seemed "perfect and fresh" when it first came out. However, I distinctly remember feeling a bit "meh" about it the first few times I heard it, and that it took a while (and repeatedly hearing Chewing Gum out) until it finally clicked.

I do think that my experience of this album is kinda similar to that.

The Paisley (shop) Window Pane (Masonic Boom), Friday, 30 October 2009 12:49 (sixteen years ago)

Not feeling this disc at all yet. It lacks the charm and warmth of Anniemal.

Daniel, Esq., Friday, 30 October 2009 12:51 (sixteen years ago)

Really wish "The Wedding" was a better song.

Dynamic Leia Dress (kingkongvsgodzilla), Friday, 30 October 2009 13:13 (sixteen years ago)

Longer, actually. More fleshed out.

Dynamic Leia Dress (kingkongvsgodzilla), Friday, 30 October 2009 13:20 (sixteen years ago)

The last three songs really spoil this album. Why on earth was Anthonio left off the final tracklisting when those Xenomania leftovers made it?

Kitchen Person, Friday, 30 October 2009 17:56 (sixteen years ago)

three weeks pass...

Take You Home my fave off the album i think.

piscesx, Thursday, 26 November 2009 12:37 (sixteen years ago)

Not The Breakfast Song?

Daniel, Esq., Thursday, 26 November 2009 14:11 (sixteen years ago)

Just kidding. That song is sort of execrable.

Daniel, Esq., Thursday, 26 November 2009 14:11 (sixteen years ago)

the whole thing seems to be getting some right across the board great to amazing reviews from beard strokers to pop kids alike. it's heartwarming!

i don't think i like this album.

Do you love me now? (surm), Friday, 8 January 2010 04:41 (sixteen years ago)

It's . . . okay, maybe? Totally forgettable.

And that's a shame, because I loved her prior disc. This one seems so lifeless and cold by comparison.

Daniel, Esq., Friday, 8 January 2010 04:48 (sixteen years ago)

for me anniemal may have had slightly better songwriting but i prefer the sound of this one way way more

journey to the center of fat butt (electricsound), Friday, 8 January 2010 04:49 (sixteen years ago)

the sound is decent but the hooks / lyrics are pretty dumb

you have to forgive me (surm), Wednesday, 20 January 2010 16:27 (sixteen years ago)

it's the kind of thing where i think "wow, with all the tools, sounds and production values involved here, these are the tunes u could come up with?"

you have to forgive me (surm), Wednesday, 20 January 2010 16:33 (sixteen years ago)

Well I think I prefer this one like a hundred times times more, but then I never really though Anniemal was that great, so...

My only problem with the album doesn't really have to do with the album itself, more like the way it was released, marketed, etc. That took away much of the excitement. A complete disaster!

Is it seriously called 'Tube Stops and Lonely Hearts'?

What's up with the video??

Spencer Chow, Friday, 26 April 2013 18:55 (thirteen years ago)

its boring. that's whats up.
the song is cool though.

mark e, Friday, 26 April 2013 19:02 (thirteen years ago)

Has Annie ever made a good video though?

how's life, Friday, 26 April 2013 19:10 (thirteen years ago)

I wouldn't say it's boring. Alternating shots of listless Annie and rooftop spinning class is really very strange.

Spencer Chow, Friday, 26 April 2013 19:21 (thirteen years ago)

There's this one she did with Ralph Myerz as well:

daavid, Monday, 29 April 2013 00:34 (thirteen years ago)

Really not sure what to make of this single. I hate the video so much it's hard to let that influence how I hear the song.

Apparently she is bringing out a new Richard X produced EP in the next few months. Think we might have to wait a while for an actual full length album.

As for her making good videos, I always liked the I Know Ur Girlfriend Hates Me one.
