Incongruous inclusion of a fish slice on that cover above.

Neil S, Saturday, 17 October 2009 09:01 (sixteen years ago)

Funny thing about the christian themes.

You never said that this would be easy,
So go on live,
You never said that this would be easy,
So go on live.

WOOOOOO!

This is the best part of the message,
And it only took one.

We live for what He's worth,
And that's more than you'll know.
He died for what He loved,
And what he loved was you.

I'll wait for you,
You know I'll wait for you,
I'll wait for you,
You know I'll wait for you.

You never said that this would be easy,
So go on live,
You never said that this would be easy,
So go on live.

Bow your head,
Go on live.

This is the time to let yourself go,
Lord pick me off the ground,
You never said this would be simple,
So pull me in and turn around.

Oh man, I never saw that Black Veil Brides link a month ago. I sat next to one of those dudes in high school orchestra for a couple years.

(he only occasionally was in full makeup)

mh, Wednesday, 18 May 2011 19:52 (fifteen years ago)

the Black Veil Brides drummer is reminding me of Elton John for some reason

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFDCHdKbKBY

not sticking to the crabcore ideal IMO

owenf, Wednesday, 18 May 2011 20:06 (fifteen years ago)

that was before the addition of the guy I know, who undoubtedly helped them with their makeup skills

mh, Wednesday, 18 May 2011 20:11 (fifteen years ago)

That Design They Skyline track am0n posted needs more discussion - it's almost like some sort of Extreme Animals track in parts; I have no idea how they'd uh compose a track like that!

etc, Thursday, 19 May 2011 21:48 (fifteen years ago)

yeah I was gonna say, this shit is crazy!! not that I am the most knowledgeable person in the world about crabcore genre conventions but uh they seem to be all over the place with this one

bernard snowy, Thursday, 19 May 2011 22:23 (fifteen years ago)

I feel like these songs are born out of jam sessions where two dudes at a time take turns playing a wicked breakdown from a song they both know, and the rest of the band starts crabbing along if they're into it, and then eventually the best sequences of breakdowns are made into new songs — also, every once in a while the keyboard player gets fed up because he has trouble following along by ear and nobody ever writes things down or tells him the chords they're gonna play or w/e, so he picks out a rhythm present from the "TRANCE" bank and plays it at full blast for a couple measures

bernard snowy, Thursday, 19 May 2011 22:29 (fifteen years ago)

Ladies and gentlemen.

I was going to assume they were from the wastes of LA, but they're from.... Germany!

valleys of your mind (mh), Saturday, 11 February 2012 14:15 (fourteen years ago)

that is worse, yes. seriously curious about the thought process of these bands -- "this song doesn't have enough stuff going on in it, let's add the beginning of prince's 'kiss' somewhere"

the acquisition and practice of music is unfavourable to the health of (abanana), Sunday, 12 February 2012 06:50 (fourteen years ago)

...the hell

I almost want to like this stuff - it could be argued these bands are actually going into new territory here, but it's all so shit

Chris S, Sunday, 12 February 2012 06:59 (fourteen years ago)

Whatever you do, don't try to make out the lyrics.

Simon H., Sunday, 12 February 2012 07:00 (fourteen years ago)

this is basically the pre-nirvana moment for metalcore haha

Cruller, Cobbler, Poffert, Pie (latebloomer), Sunday, 12 February 2012 07:07 (fourteen years ago)

hm, I dunno, I feel like something has to actually be legit to break through into historical relevance like that, and... I mean there's this attitude right now that this post-Emo/Scene thing is just something older generations couldn't understand, but from what I've seen there are smarter, less shitty kids of this same generation off making witchhouse/seapunk/icepunk/etc... and these metalcore/Scene kids are their generation's shitty equivalent of, say, Good Charlote or whatever

Chris S, Sunday, 12 February 2012 07:19 (fourteen years ago)

have a v hard time seeing/hearing anything wrong with that, fucking awesome

...except the lyrics, holy shit, children are foul things

Little GTFO (contenderizer), Sunday, 12 February 2012 07:24 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, well, unless kids have changed drastically since my era (hey, guess what, they haven't) that sexist horrible shit doesn't appeal. Well, yeah, it appeals to frat boys and alterna-trendies, but they've always been there, they've always been shit, and they've never represented what most of the generation want.

emil.y, Sunday, 12 February 2012 07:47 (fourteen years ago)

that's the thing. sound is awesome. content is repulsive beyond belief. "your daddy will be proud of his stupid little girl / shut the fuck up". no, just shut the fuck up, forever.

Little GTFO (contenderizer), Sunday, 12 February 2012 07:51 (fourteen years ago)

just trying to draw the boundaries clearly. it's not that i have a problem with their sound...
