for those not as familiar with Underworld, i highly recommend tracking down some of their remixes of other peoples tunes. Simply Red - Thrill Me, Spooky - Schmoo, Drum Club - Soundsystem, Leftfield - Song of Life, Saint Etienne - Cool Kids of Death (Full 12" Mix) to name but a few...Underworld are awesome straight through...skip the bangers (Rowla etc.) and head for the deeper tunes.

_Second Toughest..._ comes across like they took the miniscule edge of _dubnobass..._ and sanded it off of every track, leaving a completely innoffensive and uninvolving puddle of bland (with the SOLE exception of "Pearl's Girl")

Wow; well that's certainly different from my opinion anyway. I often think that Banstyle/Sappys Curry is my favourite track of the '90s. Bland is the last thing I'd describe it as. The first half hour of that record I think are amongst the best half hour of music I've ever heard. Not to worry, we're obviously looking for different things in it.

Listening to the 1992-2002 anthology this afternoon...sometimes they seem to me like the ultimate band, just a beautiful summation of so many musical tendencies in rock and dance and even soul maybe...they are wonderful

I just can't get over this band. I've never stopped or even slowed down on listening to them and they sound as fresh to me as they did 10 years ago. I listen to something of theirs almost every day.

Of their new stuff, I highly recommend both "JAL to Tokyo" (the first song on Lovely Broken Thing and the entirety of I'm a Big Sister and I'm a Girl and I'm a Princess and This is My Horse.

Sure I like their more mellow new tunes, but I still would absolutely kill to hear them do another total rockin' monster 12" banger like "Cowgirl" or "Cups" or "Spikee." Hell, NOBODY does totally rockin' monster 12" bangers anymore. Ah well.

i've got all 5 of the new 12"s and the mixes are fantastic. Hellers mix of Peggy Sussed, Robag Wruhme's mix of Play Pig, Pig and Dan mixes of the same track and the killer mixes of JAL to Tokyo are all worth tracking down....not to mention the white hotness that is the Martinez mix of Vanilla Monkey.

Highly recommended. Hope the Euros are going to the Cocoon gig in October, it will be one for the ages.

i would say beaucoup fish b/c it doesn't have any weak tracks at all, though dubnobasswithmyheadman has a couple of the most epic peaks.
